I don't understand[edit]

I think i'm mentally disabled... i did not understand anything in this article... it uses too much technical jargon, is not really relevant, and seems to be a copy of a patent technical description...

What is described here precisely ? the SIM pinout and position ? a certain type of samrtcard connector (and which type ?) ?

CP Issues[edit]

This was tagged as a G12. On the surface, seems clear, as the material is a copy paste of this, which clearly has a copyright notice. However, the Google page is merely a copy of the material in the patent application.

According to this source:

Subject to limited exceptions reflected in 37 CFR 1.71(d) & (e) and 1.84(s) , the text and drawings of a patent are typically not subject to copyright restrictions.

IANAL, but I don't think those exceptions apply.

That said, the material is plagiarized, which is problematic even if public domain, however, that can be remedied with rewrite or proper referencing.--SPhilbrick(Talk) 21:03, 28 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Fair enough, I didn't know that patent docs are PD. The page really needs a re-write though, it doesn't sound very good. I wonder if it would be better if it was to be re-written & then merged into Subscriber identity module, as in the current state it doesn't really have a section on the physical connector. It could really do with a pinout diagram like this as well. Knuckx (talk) 20:00, 3 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
