They could pick SOCOM 4 , or SOCOM 4 : UK Army or SOCOM IV

Change it back to SOCOM 4, because it doesn't have a official military group tied to it.

  • Anyone look at their released logo??? It does in fact say US Navy Seals... however speculation is the game will be heavily revolve around a NATO SpecOps team. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Volbeatfan (talkcontribs) 16:48, 6 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed, it does appear to retain the U.S. Navy SEALs subtitle. --Kamasutra (talk) 22:17, 11 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I think the problem is, in countries outside of the US, they changed the title to "SOCOM 4: Special Forces". However, in the US, the title still remains "SOCOM 4: U.S. Navy SEALs"
A change which is kind of pointless because "SOCOM" (meaning "Special Operations COMmand") in and of itself is a term used only in the United States. Spartan198 (talk) 16:31, 11 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Typo?[edit]

"One of the first female combatants from the first SOCOM..."

This seems to be some sort of typo, but I'm unsure of what it's supposed to be saying because (A) there were NO female combatants in the first SOCOM game and (B) there have, in fact, been a number of female combatants in the series since SOCOM II (RAFB terrorist Quixada Christo in SOCOM II and GROM operative Coldkill in Combined Assault, to name a couple), so this "Forty-Five" definitely IS NOT the "first female combatant in a SOCOM game". Expectations[edit]

I hope this new addition to socom will be good. The last one was a failure. This one is being developed by the orignal developer, zipper (which is a good sign) but this gameplay is going to be totally new and foreign compared to the older socom series.I hope they pay attention to detail on both the single player and multiplayer.(Steve4529 (talk) 15:23, 6 June 2010 (UTC))[reply]

Reception[edit]

I feel that reciting the game's ratings from two reviews is a bit redundant since those scores are also listed in the grid. Here is the line as currently written: SOCOM 4: U.S. Navy SEALS has received mixed reviews, scoring 67% from Metacritic based on 46 reviews, a 7.0/10 from IGN, and a 7.5/10 from Gamespot. —Preceding unsigned comment added by ChicoEdge (talkcontribs) 20:28, 18 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

For some strange reason somebody keeps inflating SOCOM 4's score from MetaCritic. Earlier today the page read that SOCOM 4 had a 90% rating based on 38 reviews. I changed it to reflect the current 67% score and then this fellow changed it back to 90%. I changed it a second time and then went on to correct a couple of review scores. ChicoEdge (talk) 23:18, 6 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

at this point dose the Reception and the way it is wrote at this point needed? if not it should be deleted —Preceding unsigned comment added by 184.56.151.84 (talk) 17:13, 4 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I saw this too, I don't know who this person thinks they're fooling, esp. given that metacritic is an aggregate site. 174.114.87.236 (talk) 23:44, 6 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Downloadable Content[edit]

The downloadable content section is written like an advertisement. Some citations and neutrality would be nice. - George R. 23 April, 2011 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.59.151.89 (talk) 09:31, 23 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Is there any chance of any new downloadable content that includes a mod that features a re-creation of the operation to take down Osama bin-Laden? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.246.118.219 (talk) 07:16, 3 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I doubt it. The game's plot has no connection to bin Laden, al Qaeda, or the Afghan war. Spartan198 (talk) 11:34, 12 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

"Command Mode"?[edit]

I've played through the entire campaign, and i'm pretty sure this doesn't exist. Unless it's on Easy difficulty, I was playing on Normal. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.251.104.81 (talk) 22:46, 23 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism[edit]

Someone is continually vandalizing the reception section, they continually change the metacritic rating to 90% where the actual is 67%, and they continually change the table stats that have unfavourable rankings to higher numbers. 174.114.87.236 (talk) 23:56, 6 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Is SOCOM 4's plot really happen in Malaysia?[edit]

I watched this vid (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rdSrlqsPr4g)(a preview of the game in E3) and found something hilarious.

As a Malaysian, I do recognize the huge building that collapsed after a bombardment is the Kuala Lumpur Tower and there is the Petronas Twin-Tower look-alike just somewhere in the first scene... They don't look identical to their real-life counterparts but I was like "It's a fictional scenario so what the heck." and continued watching...

Then something funny popped out... the road signs... they are Chinese! And for your information, Malaysia's official language is Malay. They had made as if Malaysia is a Chinese country and that would mean developing the game by using a setting that they do not even research on. If they say its Singapore, then what about the tower that got blown up in the first scene of the gameplay? That is no Singaporean building.

Can someone please enlighten me on what the hell is going on here? Is the game's plot actually happens in Malaysia? Or has they mistaken China as South East Asia? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.27.19.245 (talk) 09:01, 25 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Dude, lots of places look the same. It doesn't mean that somebody got something wrong, or that it is related. To you, you might think the buildings look like the buildings you know, but maybe the people that built the buildings you know, were copying some other buildings, from somewhere else.

I am from Orlando Florida. Downtown Chicago looks just like downtown Orlando. So if someone made a game that took place in Chicago, I might think they are in Orlando and messed things up, but it has nothing to do with Orlando. Not to mention the fact that Chicago, city wise, was built first. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.160.146.41 (talk) 01:29, 16 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The SOCOM franchise has had its fare share of research mistakes before (such as SOCOM II portraying the US Embassy in Algeria as being in Bejaia (sp?) instead of Algiers like it is in reality), so it's best to take it tongue-in-cheek. Besides that, the story in SOCOM 4 sucks anyway. In light of that, how accurate the locale is portrayed is really of secondary concern, IMO. Spartan198 (talk) 16:11, 11 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

More Vandalism[edit]

Seriously, someone has put random rants about navy seals where the ratings and references are. This article needs protection, not to mention the plot is still unfinished (other areas need some cleaning up too) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.251.104.248 (talk) 19:54, 14 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Gameplay[edit]

I feel like a section could be added about gameplay. I could write a brief word about it but I don’t know how to add a section where you click on the arrow to reveal more. The game was pretty noteworthy in my opinion for its dumbing down of mechanics that made previous entries fun. And seeing how it’s been a while with no sequel in sight I think it’s fair to say these gameplay changes had a negative effect on the series and it’s future. Anyone agree?
