Mining accident August 2022[edit]
The underground mine El Pinabete has been flooded on 3 August 2022 by water from a neighboring mine closed in 1996.
5 miners managed to flee, 10 were trapped. Pumps were used, rain delivered new water. It was to dangerous for rescue teams to go down. Not earlier than on 16 August foreign rescue professionals (in Germany, USA) were asked for help.
