Past Tense/Future Event?[edit]

On October 27, 2007, he replaced Ali Larijani as chief nuclear negotiator of Iran.

Because the event, the replacement, happened in the past. I suppose we could say "since XXX he has been the YYY, replacing Ali Larijani", but we shouldn't say "he has replaced Ali Larijani..." as that latter form of words does indeed sound stale very soon. -- Finlay McWalter | Talk 00:08, 21 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
