GA Reassessment[edit]

Article (edit | visual edit | history) · Article talk (edit | history) · Watch

  • A lot of uncited text. Most of the history is uncited in the regard that the points of interest are cited, as well as details about the current roads, but not the fact that those roads were part of the Saginaw Trail.
  • Some of the citations are arguably to self-published sources.

I will leave this on hold for 7 days before demoting, or longer if work is being done to save the article. --Rschen7754 04:05, 3 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I'm somewhat concerned that this entire article is based upon a somewhat false premise. The "Saginaw Trail" was an Indian footpath between Detroit and Saginaw. It was later used as the basis of a mid-19th-century plank road and private toll road that lasted until about 1910. However, this article, as written focuses on what was part of the Dixie Highway in southeastern Michigan. The route description section follows modern roadways, with modern descriptions and a ton of fluff. At a minimum, that section needs to be gutted and rebuilt with a description of the route of the Saginaw Trail and its landmarks in 1910, not the modern roadways that don't always follow the older trail.

I've created Draft:Saginaw Trail, which if used and tweaked, would cut this down to a set index article like Mackinac Trail. If the article creator is willing to fix the issues, I'd be ok with leaving this as a full article. If not, I will recommend gutting this article back to the set index concept. It's been just about 7 days and the original nominator of this article has not shown any interest. In fact, he summarily removed the GAR notice from his talk page. Rather than prolong things, I'm going to substitute the set index page version for the article and have it delisted. Imzadi 1979  05:52, 9 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
