I wonder whether Alexandria is correct. In the context of that sentence Alessandria seems somewhat more likely.

You may be correct. My sources were old (1950's for Omelbert) and older (18th c. for Alban Butler), and it is more than likely that either an editorial error (Omelbert) or archaism (Butler) crept in. Please feel free to make the change, as you are correct that the geography supports you. Geogre 13:05, 9 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, it’s taken me more than a year to spot your reply. Unfortunately I can’t find genuinely good sources for this chap on the internet. Nevertheless It must be Alessandria—which Galdino is said to have been active in establishing (it was named after that very Pope)—and Navarre must be Novara. I’ll see what I can make of what I have found. By the way the anti-Lombard thing is a muddle, which I imagine was inherited from http://www.catholic.org/saints/saint.php?saint_id=3506. In the twelfth-century sense of Lombard, he (like the Pope) was a very active supporter. Had he been born half a millenium earlier he might well have opposed those Lombards and their fidelity to Arianism. It’s very odd how bad most internet sites are on these subjects. Even as an atheist I would think it wrong to lie about saints. But that’s what they do all the time! —Ian Spackman

Moving or article[edit]

He is the only Saint Galdino, so I believe the title should be simply Saint Galdino, as in other Wikis. 213.245.147.96 (talk) 16:59, 27 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
