Contested deletion[edit]

This article should not be speedy deleted as being about a subject that was invented/coined/discovered by the article's creator or someone they know personally and for lack of asserted importance, because this is an protocol which has been widely considered within the academic community, mentioned in hundreds of academic papers and introduced into two public standards. It is one of very few protocols which provide a realistic mechanism for performing an identity based key exchange. As such it is an important protocol which deserves an explanation within an encyclopaedia.
