Adoption laws are more complex than this article suggests[edit]

Sometimes it is not simply "yes" or "no" only.

Just one example - Norway:

Joint adoption by partners of the same sex is only possible if they are married. Same-sex couples in a Registered Partnership (couples are not obliged to have their Registered Partnership converted into a marriage) are offered step-child adoption only. And adoption is not possible if the child originates from a country that does not permit such adoption. Knisfo (talk) 16:23, 12 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to one external link on LGBT adoption in Europe. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:

Italy, Slovenia, Czechia[edit]

I have updated on Italy, but I don't know how to change the map. Could someone do that?

Also, Slovenia needs to be put back in the map. The Slovenian Family Code referendum, 2012 did not affect stepchild adoption, as was clearly stated in the source given by RaVski in the map file on 16 April 2014 ("added Slovenia http://www.policy.hu/takacs/pdf-lib/Confronting_Homophobia_in_Europe-the_book.pdf (see p. 198-200 in Acrobat Reader or 225-226 in Firefox)"). And now the Czech Republic needs to be added as well. See updated table in "LGBT rights in Europe". Sigur (talk) 20:08, 2 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Sources that aren't 13 years out of date???[edit]

Anyone have sources for Bulgaria, Cyprus, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania & Slovakia or is 2006 the 'latest'? Mangotrue (talk) 11:55, 11 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hungary's law of adoption for same-sex couples[edit]

I deleted this sentence (In December 2020, Hungary explicitly legally banned adoption for same-sex couples within its constitution.[1][2]), because it is not true.

Stepchild adoption in Italy[edit]

It was legalised by the Court of Cassation on 22 June 2016 (Judgement #12962). Same-sex partners can adopt their stepchild through court order. The Civil Union bill (Law 76/2016), while denying full adoption rights to same-sex couples, allowed judges to evaluate and authorise stepchild adoption on a case by case basis, as per the Adoption Bill of 1983 (Law 184/1983). The Court of Cassation confirmed that this applies to same-sex couples as well based on the principle of non-discrimination in terms of sexual orientation. https://www.questionegiustizia.it/articolo/stepchild-adoption_via-libera-della-cassazione_la-sentenza_22-06-2016.php https://www.ht-avvocati.it/famiglia-eredita/diritto-famiglia/unioni-civili/stepchild-adoption.php https://www.vgsfamilylawyers.com/guide-to-italian-stepchild-adoption/ (in English) Finedelledanze (talk) 13:10, 20 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
