Samlesbury Hall[edit]

The references need to be improved, also I think there was originally another Samlesbury Hall closer to the River Ribble, maybe it could be mentioned in the article if sources can be found. --Snigbrook (talk) 04:34, 31 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Architecture - misalignment of the chapel[edit]

The difference in alignment of the chapel and solar can't be due to the change in the position of the solstice sun over the course of 140 years - that would be a tiny fraction of a degree. More likely the chapel was aligned due east by compass whilst the solar just looked generally eastwards to catch the rising sun or at most faced the direction of solstice sunrise, which would be affected by the height of the horizon.
