Fact Request on Same-sex marriage views[edit]

Fact check as requested:

Dear Mr. Fisher:

Thank you for your recent email regarding marriage equality and civil union legislation.

The Civil Unions bill was brought up for a vote in the Assembly December 14th and passed by a vote of 56-19 with 5 abstentions. I voted no believing marriage should be between one man and one woman. Had the opportunity arisen to vote for a constitutional amendment defining marriage as between one man and one woman, I would have voted yes for the amendment.

If I can be of any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact my office.

Sincerely,

Assemblyman Samuel D. Thompson, Ph.D.

13th Legislative District

I understand why you wanted verification, of course. It's hard to believe there are still people alive with those views, especially in New Jersey!

That is a source, but it's not a verifiable source. I have trued to find a news article that references his vote or information on his web site, but I have not found it yet. I will leave a "citation needed" tag on this issue until a definitive Wikipedia-qualified source can be identified. Alansohn 02:23, 25 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
