View of a corridor/Loss of Innocence[edit]

Tim Wonnacott on the BBC1 program Bargain Hunt which is airing as I write, referred to this painting as named 'The Loss of Innocence'. Explaining that the parrot cage being open as a symbol of the loss of virginity but with the parrot yet to fly [or fall] and the animals in a suspended state of expectation. Meanwhile the seated girl being interviewed by her parents is overlooked by her prospective lover at the window.
