Leonard J. Thom

On June 25th in the Sandusky Register's and on May 25th in the Youngstown Vindicator's web sites are web articles about Leonard J. Thom, a Sandusky native who served on PT 109 with John F. Kennedy commanding. I have added him as a notable native of Sandusky; but don't have the time today to create a proper article for Leonard J. Thom and I hope that some someone else can help. Mayor

Sandusky has a commission form of government. The top administrator is that of City Manager, the current City Manager's name is Michael J. Will. (from the City of Sandusky web page) Zars 17:43, 26 February 2007 (UTC)

That's a little unusual, I never knew that a city like Sandusky, Ohio can operate without a mayor. Most cities in the United States have mayors under their form of government. Thanks for the information. -- Ohioan 02:11, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

I was not correct in my statement of 26 Feb and I edited it. Mr. Daniel J. Kaman is the President of the Sandusky City Commission; and as such is the "ex-officio" mayor of Sandusky. He would be the lead elected official. An article in the local paper reported that he presided at a ceremony honoring a retiring coach as "Mayor." Michael J. Will is the City Manager and the lead administrator, but his is not an elected position. Zars 04:24, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

Perkins Township

What are you people doing, no edit fighting please, Perkins Township is like a part of Sandusky because the Sandusky Mall, restaurants, retail and business are all on this side of town (Sandusky). I think Perkins Township should be included in this main article since it is a part of the city of Sandusky, Ohio. Was this a edit war or what.---OHWiki 14:46, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

Relax man, it's no big deal. Nyttend removed the section on Perkins, I restored it with the explanation that it's a different situation from the other townships in Erie County, and then he removed the part that's irrelevant to this article (i.e., Perkins schools, etc.). Sandusky Regurgitator

The Sandusky Regurgitator is a news/humor website that focuses on the Sandusky area. It is a legit website and has been mentioned in the local media multiple times. Its unique vistor webtraffic measures in the hundreds on weekdays and numerous local leaders have admitted that they are fans of the site.

This being said, there is no flame war here, there is no spam, or self promotion. This is a legit site that should be mentioned on the Sandusky page. People from other locations should not dictate what is worthy of this page.Regurgitator (talk) 23:12, 29 September 2008 (UTC)

However, you've made no claim to notability as Wikipedia defines it. The only Google hits I'm getting are either from the website itself, or posts about/from it in other forums/blogs, and stuff on myspace/youtube/etc. That does in no way satisfy the notability requirements. It doesn't seem likely that print sources will mention it much either.

Micropolitan Area

On this page and others, the Statistical Area around Sandusky is described as Metropolitan, but surely, as its core population of ~27,000 is between 49,999 and 10,000, doesn't that make it a Micropolitan Area? ----

Origin of the name

I'm not sure who indicated that the "I. Sandosky" map dated from 1773, but that was off from forty years. It's a 1733 map, as the website it's on clearly indicate. Which kind of neuters the Jacob Sodowsky theory - how could a feature that was named Sandosky by 1733 be named after a Polish immigrant who came to the New World in 1733? (Or 1718, actually, as the Delisle map refers to Sandusky Bay as Lac Sandouské.--Guillaume Hébert-Jodoin (talk) 04:36, 5 July 2010 (UTC)

The information on the Sadowski/Sodowsky family is faulty and not clearly sourced. The source given on the page for Jacob Sodowsky is the Catholic Encyclopedia of 1913, but the information is out of date compared with pretty much any genealogical source regarding the family. But I don't know if http://www.poles.org/Sadowski.html can really be a Reliable Source under Wikipedia guidelines either. The facts seem to be that the fur trader was Antoni/Anthony Sadowski, Jacob's grandfather; Jacob wasn't born until the family had moved to Virginia; and the earliest primary source documents seem to place the family in New Jersey by 1709 and in Pennsylvania by 1712. But I'm not sure what sources could be cited to show this, nor whether this article is the correct place to do so. Should it be edited as Kalahari Resort is not in Perkins township, due to legal and tax issues it is in Huron Township and part of Huron Ohio, not Sandusky Ohio.
