Merge[edit]

I must stress the the idea of merging of this article and the Ceannabeinne article is not a good idea. They are two completely separate settlements. They both were different villages. They both have their own history. QuintusPetillius (talk) 16:05, 29 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Having been brought up at Sangobeg from the age of three weeks, I think it would be a good idea to merge the item Sangobeg with the item Ceannabeinne, as they are barely a mile apart, and the former partially developed when the latter community was cleared by the notorious merchant greedster James Anderson of Rispond, to make way for a sheep farm in the mid-19th Century. It is incorrect, however, to state that the inhabitants would have had to travel six or seven miles towards Carbreck to cut peats, as they actually did so on the edge of Loch Eriboll, a mile from Ceannabeinne and two miles from Sangobeg. In addition, the nearest shops to Sangobeg are two miles to the west. I know - I cut peats on these banks many times in my youth, and even later, and at 71 I am still nominal tenant of the family croft in Sangobeg. I've removed the merge hat as it's way out of date. Given the small scale of the majority of the places up here it's reasonable to consider whether or not one darned great merge in Durness might be a better idea - for starters the rather prolifeic editor who created most of these articles didn't actually link them together very well so we end up with a pile of orphan articles. I'm working through things and it'll be interesting to see at the end whether or not they justify their own articles or not. Blue Square Thing (talk) 20:55, 22 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
