Unreliable source[edit]

Fashion Model Directory, aka "the IMDb of the fashion industry", is not a reliable source, and shouldn't be used in a biography of a living person to support birth date information. Is there a reliable source for the birth date in this article, or should we just remove it to comply with WP:DOB? Indignant Flamingo (talk) 01:33, 29 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

One source, among the likes of Vogue, Telegraph, is deemed unreliable to you so you tag the whole article as such? Pedantry. Fashion Model Directory is a reliable source for models whether people want to compare it to a movie database or not. And it’s quite useful in cases where certain information or work is hard to find. Those who pay attention to fashion know that. Fashion Model Directory has an entire editorial board for all the content which they post, not unlike a magazine; they don’t rely on user submitted blurbs. While IMDB allows users to submit content, they have data editors who choose what ultimately goes on the site and some things require said users to give urls which they check—It’s not a lawless terrain of disinformation. I’m removing the tag. Trillfendi (talk) 01:55, 29 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hm, I guess I was remembering when someone wrote "the source, predictably and lazily, is Fashion Model Directory (not. a. reliable. source. A last resort at best.)" at an AfD about a model article. What changed your mind about FMD, Trillfendi? Indignant Flamingo (talk) 02:02, 29 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
