Copyright issues[edit]

CopyVio is backward. As an editor of the page over several revisions I can guarantee that http://www.testinginterviewquestions.com/interview/10052/ copied the page and not the other way around. Not familiar with the book. Based on my Google search I discovered that it was published in 2006 as well. It created the text from material in http://www.kaner.com/pdfs/ScenarioIntroVer4.pdf page 4. Sorry about that date, Walter. I've been asked to review several articles edited by students at India/Pune to identify articles with copyright violations and remove all unsourced content from said articles. Cleanup and expansion of this article was a university assignment. This article is replicated numerous times on the web. In selecting http://www.testinginterviewquestions.com/interview/10052/ as the source, I simply chose one that duplicated the content to a greater extreme. At this point, there is nothing to indicate that this article is not a copyvio of several different articles. It's clear that the "Methods" section was taken from the book. However, the book has more content, while this section is culled from the outline. The lede is also duplicated numerous times. In order to retain this article, can you please take another look at this article and provide inline citations for all content? Not today, but soon. The problem is the subject, while notable, is not written about extensively. Kaner's work is the definitive work. We can't control if other people reference this article though and that's what appears to be happening. The one reference earlier clearly lifted the existing text for its purposes (I have had run-ins with the owner of that site stealing other material I've written several times). I can guarantee that the text here is as result of my edits and not copied from other sources.

As for the Pune additions. I'm quite aware of their efforts to turn Wikipedia into a project and have watched their additions and have pruned and completely purged many of their additions. --Walter Görlitz (talk) 00:22, 14 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Personally, I hope for soon. You state "notable" but then state that it's "not written about extensively". You state that you "can guarantee". Honestly, we can't just say "It's notable because Walter said it is." Notability requires significant, reliable, and independent sources. I realize that you know all of this. But again, we need to have the references. If not, we need to delete the article. As a suggestion, we could send it to AFD and see if anyone else comes up with some sourcing. Not sure what you mean by "I'm quite aware of their efforts to turn Wikipedia into a project". The WMF established the India Education Program, along with the USEP, Canada, Brazil, Germany, UK, Oceania, and the MENA Education Program. More expansion is planned. Sorry. You've taken two different phrases and put them together. The concept is notable. However the guarantee I offered was that the text is present due to my redaction of original sources, not because it was copied from another source. Dummy concept?[edit]

Independently of these copyright issues, I find the page confusing and I seriously doubt about the interest of the concept of "scenario-based testing".

The only factual point put forward for introducing the new vocabulary of "scenario-based testing" is that "test cases are single steps whereas scenarios cover a number of steps". Who said that test cases are single steps? Test cases can contain multiple steps. They can be complex too, especially if they have been generated automatically by tools that do systematic state exploration and that can produce large test cases with thousands of actions.

Inaccuracy[edit]

The content on History seems inaccurate. The term has been used at least since 1999. This is from 1999: "Hans [Schaeffer] says of these tests, 'I am not sure if there is any standard name for this kind of long-duration scenario testing. But some of my customers use the term ‘scenario test’ for this. And, as this type of testing is new to them, they find lots of bugs!' Hans Buwalda, a consultant in the Netherlands, calls this 'soap opera testing.' The tests describe real life, but are exaggerated—just like the soaps on TV. As with Ross Collard’s approach, the scenarios are enhanced with test conditions derived from other design techniques."
