Founded by Weider[edit]

Nothing in source indicates Schiff was founded by Joe Weider. Company literature indicates that it was founded in 1936, when Weider was 16. Source does not support him as founder. Some Wikipedia articles suggest that Weider invented Tiger's Milk Bars, which were manufactured by Schiff, but I have not seen any verifiable source that indicates this is the case either. At this time, given the source, there is nothing to support the statement that Weider founded Schiff. 71.170.31.210 (talk) 16:30, 27 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I've found a few sources to confirm that Weider Nutrition was indeed founded by the Weider family and added them to the article (not the greatest, so better sources are welcome). Please note that his birth year is disputed. Also, during the era and in the region that this company was founded, a 16-17 year old was often considered an adult. So, barring any objections...I have returned the information from the company website for [weider.com|Weider Global Nutrition] to the article. On a side note, I also found this article about Schiff and Weider Health and Fitness [1]. However, I'm not sure how to incorporate it into the article. Joe Weider had NOTHING to do with the founding of Schiff Vitamins. The company was founded by Eugene Schiff in 1936 (when Joe Weider was only 16 years old). The history of the Schiff company can be bound on their website.

"In the late 1930s a young pharmacist named Eugene Schiff developed a method of processing whey from milk for human consumption. He created Schiff Bio-Foods, a whey packaging company. This was a half century before whey concentrates would emerge as a popular supplement in the bodybuilding scene. For a short time he sold his packaged whey to local drug stores, then sold his own store to enter into the manufacturing and packaging of health foods.

Schiff focused on supplements made from natural products. He began to experiment with whole foods such as brewer’s yeast, wheat germ and liver. He found that these foods were naturally rich in vitamins and minerals. The Schiff company claims that he was first to discover that rose hips was a superior source of vitamin C. Along with the first rose hip vitamin C supplement, he also launched one of the first multi-vitamin products, called “V-Complete.” — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:188:C404:5F70:94EE:EF36:E968:3B27 (talk) 02:28, 25 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
