Gas prices[edit]

Seb I just saw your segment on a current affair. I have been in the gas industry for over 40 years. I have been talking to various media outlets trying to let them know that most of the info put out by the industry energy companies are only partly true and the rest lies. Before the liberal state government sold off the gas and fuel corp we had the cheapest gas in the world. After privatisations we now have the most expensive. We have unlimited gas supplies in bass strait (still the cheapest in the world to get out) Most of all these companies are now foreign owned and therefore do not care how much they charge. Jeff kennet who was the premier at the time who sold the gas and fuel corp has since said it was a mistake to sell due to the then gas price increases. So in other words politicians caused this and it will only politicians that will fix this problem. There is a real story behind this! Why is it that it only costs about $3 per gigajoule to deliver the gas to every gas meter in Melbourne and they want to charge us $20-$40 There should be a royal commission into all costs related to the delivery of gas from start to finish. Melbourne/ Victoria used to be the manufacturing epicentre of Australia due to its cheap energy. There is away to bring this back. Feel free to call.
