Belligerents[edit]

Legion is part of the French army, no need to separate it from France. I deleted Legion icon. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.190.97.85 (talk) 11:57, 12 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

How did the Dahomeans fail so badly?[edit]

I understand that France was a global empire at this point and was much more technologically advanced than the small kingdom, but Dahomey was armed with (at the time) modern weapons and had a vast numerical advantage. Was Béhanzin just a bad commander? Was it France's Napoleonic battlefield strategies that gave them a decisive victory? Is there anywhere I can read up on this? Other African states such as the Waddai, Serer, and Wassoulou gave the French a much harder time before being conquered. 2601:18F:600:D40:E0CD:65B:AAAE:F88C (talk) 17:54, 12 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
