Hello, I'm Azealia911 talk and I'll be reviewing this article against the good article criteria. Unfortunately, I'm seeing some issues in this article that I can't envision being easily addressed within the standard seven-day on-hold period. Subsequently, I'm quick-failing this nomination based on point 2 of the immediate failures section of the good article criteria. Specifically, there are some really large referencing issues towards the end of the article. The entire filmography section contains no citations whatsoever. I'd call that shoddy in a stub article, but a GA-nominated one? Sorry, I can't pass this. Best, Azealia911 talk 15:04, 22 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This review is incompetent and incomplete. I have re-opened it so that another competent editor can review it without it being sent to the back of the queue. The Rambling Man (talk) 20:11, 22 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I'll take this one. If you feel so inclined I currently have one PR (DJ AM) and one GAN (Don't Say You Love Me (M2M song)), but no pressure. Freikorp (talk) 13:35, 27 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  1. Is it reasonably well written?
    A. Prose is "clear and concise", without copyvios, or spelling and grammar errors:
    B. MoS compliance for lead, layout, words to watch, fiction, and lists:
I'm thinking Hispanics in the lead could use a wikilink, but up to you.
  1. "She had Cherokee ancestry". That's a bit vague; can you be more specific? Which relative was Cherokee?
  •  Fixed Her mother had Cherokee ancestry. jona(talk) 23:13, 27 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  1. "She became the twentieth-wealthiest Hispanic musician in 1993 and 1994." Can you clarify, how was she 20th in both 1993 and 1994? Were there two separate reviews each year which she both ranked 20th in? Or was the review of wealthy musicians done over the two-year period?
  • According to the book it was figures provided by Hispanic magazine. I have  Fixed the sentence. jona(talk) 23:13, 27 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  1. "Stern played Selena's songs with gunshots in the background." On his radio program? Please clarify. Also it might be an idea to add the detail that Stern was never actually arrested on the warrant.
  1. "Her biggest fear was that no-one would attend her concerts." Maybe i've missed something, but how exactly does this relate to philanthropy?
  1. "Her death was "the most devastating loss" in Tejano music history." Most devastating according to whom?
  1. "Selena was named "one of the most popular Latina singers of the 1990s". Named by who?
  1. Not a big deal, but is their any reason why Jennifer Lopez is wikilinked but Ricky Martin and Shakira are not?
  1. "In 1997 Selena was commemorated with a museum and a life-size bronze statue". Where?
  1. "She was named one of the 20 most influential Texans of all time." When? By who?
  1. Is it factually accurate and verifiable?
    A. Has an appropriate reference section:
Reference format is inconsistent. Dates I.e "Retrieved 17 February 2012." and "Retrieved October 10, 2011." Some references seem to use the "work" parameter while others use "publisher".
  1. B. Citation to reliable sources where necessary:
'Quintanilla III did not write the tracks "Sukiyaki", "Contigo Quiero Estar", and "No Te Vayas"'. Do you have a citation for that?
  • Added source from AllMusic. jona(talk) 23:13, 27 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  1. C. No original research:
  2. Is it broad in its coverage?
    A. Major aspects:
    B. Focused:
  3. Is it neutral?
    Fair representation without bias:
  4. Is it stable?
    No edit wars, etc:
As indicated by edit history and talk page
  5. Does it contain images to illustrate the topic?
    A. Images are tagged with their copyright status, and valid fair use rationales are provided for non-free content:
    B. Images are provided if possible and are relevant to the topic, and have suitable captions:
To be honest considering the sheer size of this article and the work that has gone into it i'm surprised you haven't found other pictures, though this isn't a problem. I think you should add the year the photo of Chris Pérez was taken though.
  6. Overall:
Pass or Fail: Placing on hold until issues are addressed. Freikorp (talk) 14:43, 27 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Passing now; well done. Hopefully this article will regain it's featured status before too long. Freikorp (talk) 03:07, 28 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
