It appears that Smart Attribute 198 "Uncorrectable Sector Count" in SandForce SF-2xxx based controllers is potentially misleading to most SMART software. Per the above link attribute 198 is fixed at 120 until a sample size of between 10^10 and 10^12 'BitsRead' is achieved, at which point it reports a 'normalized value' between 38-120. And it resets at power cycle to boot.
