I thought this was a great start to identifying what self-authorship is and its importance. However, I feel like there are areas where we could go into greater detail and give better explanations. To improve the article, I thought of giving greater explanations of the stages of self-authorship. Stage 4 does not actually have an explanation of what takes place during personal foundation. I also found that Magolda's three elements of authorship were repeated throughout the article. It could also be interesting to gain more information from a wider range of culture about the development of self-authorship. Hi, I am new to helping update wikipedia. I am taking a class at Brigham Young University- Idaho which is helping me to learn how to do this to better assist in this. I really think that this article is great but I do think that there needs to be more sources and especially or some of the theories that are listed for the different stages of peoples lives. This article has a good start, but need some additional sources and restructuring. Currently, there are only two theorists mentioned, and the most recent sources are from nine years ago. Additionally, in the section "Leading factors in development of self-authorship in diverse cultures", there is only one culture mentioned. This does not fit the heading descriptor of "diverse" and should include more cultures and comparisons. TKStoker (talk) 21:06, 29 September 2021 (UTC)
Something that should be considered here is the role of other, more modern theorists. The concept of self-authorship has been evolving, and some, such as Jordan B. Peterson has been working to apply self-authorship in therapeutic formats. Additionally, the details on the actual theories described in this article are generic and have few references to Kegan's original works. A more thorough description of his theories and methods would help to strengthen this article considerably. Finally, take a look at Marcia Baxter Magolda's four stages of self-authorship, which appear first under the heading "Leading Theorists of Self-Authorship" and again under the heading "Evolution of Self-Authorship". Although the wording is different in both, they could easily be compiled within one section or the other, and it seems redundant to have the steps outlined in both. I added more info regarding the self-authoring suite created by Jordan B Peterson. I used the video provided on his website [1], but decided against posting it as a direct reference to avoid "promotion" of his course. I think there could be a bit more added in that section going over the background for his course and what it provides for people. In the future, I am thinking about adding more content under Magolda's 4 stages and 3 Elements of self-authorship, as I feel they could made much more in-depth.
