Use of the term "the House"[edit]

Normally in the Westminster system "the House" exclusively refers to the House of Commons/Representatives. Was this term ever used for the Senate at all? Timrollpickering 22:30, 25 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ok. It strikes me that a stricter method of election would be better. I'm surprised the two had different systems actually. I'm not too sure whether the peers clause applies to the Irish peerage or a peer of any division resident in Ireland; it seems to imply the latter. --Counter-revolutionary (talk) 22:44, 3 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The intention was to have Two lower houses and one upper house in Ireland. That fell through and so the NI senate had to be cobbled together.Traditional unionist (talk) 23:36, 3 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
