Predecessor name -- we should probably change the rendering[edit]

The predecessor aquarium was called, in Japanese, マリンピア松島水族館 (Marin Pia Matsushima Suizokukan). The Marin Pia part is the Japanese katakana rendering of English "Marine Pier". Rendering this name in an English text as Marinepia is vastly confusing -- this is a strange mish-mash of English and Japanese. For anyone used to Japanese names, this becomes マリネピア in kana, which is incorrect. For anyone unfamiliar with Japanese, this name carries no clear meaning.

In my brief searching so far, I cannot find any official English-language materials that list the name of the former facility. If we (the Wikipedia editors) are the ones translating this, I recommend that we either transliterate as Marin Pia, or we translate as Marine Pier. If, for some reason, we must keep the hodge-podge name rendering of Marinepia, we should include an explanation. ‑‑ Eiríkr Útlendi │Tala við mig 07:54, 23 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Would the [marinepia.co.jp website] using "marinepia" and the copyright information at the bottom ("MARINEPIA MATSUSHIMA AQUARIUM. All rights reserved") count towards that spelling? Otherwise, I can't find any official English language sources either, though I can find other English sources such as this JAL article using the Marinepia spelling. @Purplemontart:, good find, thank you! For some reason I wasn't able to find the site in my searches yesterday.
Considering the site itself uses that, I'd say we're stuck with this spelling. As such, I recommend a brief note explaining what this is -- not マリネピア, and not some made-up meaningless word. What do you think of this kind of thing? ‑‑ Eiríkr Útlendi │Tala við mig 17:14, 24 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Eirikr: That works! Thanks for doing that. Purplemontart (talk) 02:56, 25 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
