Clearly, this article was subject to a level of COI by being created by the company concerned. However I am of the view that it is valid to maintain this article in a 'non-advert' form covering, as it does, a type of software which is becoming increasingly common. the speedy deletion was out of process given the articles history and I've now copyedited it remove any POV issues. --AlisonW (talk) 11:39, 30 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Alison, there's history to this with the company's other articles. I believe this one was created following the salting of one of the other titles. User then resorted to a sock to evade the block. The company *might* be notable, but I don't think each of their products is sufficiently notable to warrant a separate article. If you're going to restore and re-write one (I have no interest in re-writing Spam as it just rewards spammers. "I can post it, they'll clean it up") you might handle the parent article and merge these there. Thoughts? TravellingCarithe Busy Bee 12:55, 30 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, interesting. I received (as WMUK) an enquiry from the firm about the deletion of the article - which did appear to be out of process - and looking at it and other articles on similar companies offering this type of software it seemed reasonable to have something in place. So far as I was previously aware this was a one-product company but if you could point me at the previous stuff I'd be interested in taking a look and possibly revising my conclusions. --AlisonW (talk) 13:12, 30 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
WMUK? Sorry I don't always speak Wiki well. Other articles that I'm aware of are: Sentry Basic (speedied three times and salted) and Sentry Lite. There may be others. None of the products are independently notable and appeared (to me, as well as to the editors who tagged it for deletion) to be an end-run around the salting. It appears now that Sentry Lite is also a copyvio of the firm's website, as well as from Sentry Basic article. There was nothing here other than corporate spam. If you want to write an article about the company, you're of course welcome to do so, but they also don't appear notable and I'm not sure they'd pass AfD. In all this reads like a desperate corporate "but we want to be on Wikipedia, it's not fair" that you got dragged into. Happy to help if I can.
