Name[edit]

Should this perhaps be titled "Serotonergic Hallucinogens?"

Actually, I think the proper article title should be "Classic psychedelic" (article titles should not be pluralized). If we stick with serotonergic, we definitely do not want to use the term hallucinogen. Of note, please see the article psychoactive drug. I am surprised you did not notice that article when linking to the psychedelic article. --Thoric 00:11, 4 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I removed the merger suggestion, as it certainly doesn't hurt to maintain a page of information on classic/serotonergic psychedelics free from the clutter of empathogens, dissociatives and cannabinoids. --Thoric 16:12, 7 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Merge with Psychedelic drug[edit]

The article name Serotonergic psychedelic does not make much sense. All psychedelics (hallucinogens) are serotonergig psychedelics, so I will merge this article with Psychedelic drug. The term psychedelic drug is identical to classic hallucinogens, serotonergic hallucinogen, and serotonergic psychedelic (the latter terms are not common at all), and it is more precise than the term hallucinogenic. How is the term "psychedelic drug" identical to "classic hallucinogens"? Hallucinogens (classic or otherwise) also include such substances as PCP and the belladonna alkaloids, which are certainly not the same as drugs such as LSD, mescaline and psilocybin. The current psychedelic drug article groups together a few different classes of drug which are considered by most to be "psychedelic" -- mind manifesting. These groups each have their own separate pages -- the serotonergic psychedelics, the enactogens and the cannibinoids. I do not recommend a merge. If "serotonergic psychedelic" is confusing, I recommend it be renamed to "classic psychedelic", but I do not recommend that it replace the current "psychedelic drug" article. --Thoric 21:47, 18 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

2022 merger proposal[edit]

For any interested editors, I've proposed that this page should be merged into the page Psychedelic drug. If you'd like to comment, there is a discussion about this at Talk:Psychedelic drug#Merger proposal. Gazelle55 (talk) 23:07, 17 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
