what is the natural outlet of this river?

every description I see of it ends with the Marine Railway, which may be relevant for navigators but is not hydrologically correct

the current description would be like claiming Lake Erie drains into Lake Ontario via the Welland Canal while omitting any mention of Niagara Falls
