Moved from main article[edit]

Error correction: Ochoa did not attend Málaga College and obtain a BA degree in 1921, as such a place has never existed. The first University level institution in Málaga was the Colegio Universitario, a branch of the Universidad de Granada, that operated from 1970 until 1972, when the Universidad de Málaga was created. In 1921 Ochoa obtained a Bachiller degree (baccalaureate=senior high school diploma) from the Instituto Provincial de SUIIIIIIIII Málaga, founded in 1846 and in Ochoa's time, the only high school in Málaga. After the Spanish Civil War in 1939 the Instituto Provincial was split by sexes and the Instituto Provincial Masculino was eventually moved in 1961 to the current location of IES Nuestra Señora de la Victoria, where there is a plaque honoring Ochoa.

I moved this section from the bottom of this article. I'm checking it's truthfulnes. Sayeth 19:41, 2 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Severo Ocho in Spain and the history of Centro de Biología Molecular[edit]

To expand the article it would be necessary to rewrite the last section (Legacy), here I leave some necessary information.

The Center for Molecular Biology (on the UAM campus) was created in 1975 as a result of the union of the Autonomous University of Madrid centers: the Institute of Molecular Biology (directed by Federico Mayor Zaragoza) and the Institute of Developmental Biology (directed by Eladio Viñuela) with those of the CSIC: the Biochemistry of Macromolecules (directed by David Vázquez) and the Developmental Genetics section (directed by Antonio García Bellido).

Severo Ochoa was Honorary Director of the Center from 1975 to 1993, the date of his death, and he assured that: the Center "was my dream (...) Thanks to the Center for Molecular Biology, its scientists and all its staff, it is no longer It can be said that there is no research in Spain".

The name "Severo Ochoa Molecular Biology Center" came about, as a tribute to his research work, after his death. MartinGala (talk) 18:22, 15 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
