New Music Section...[edit]

The music section has punctuation errors and crediting errors. Roll The Dice is by Twin (production team) and not by Hot Rush Music. And the performer for Watch Me is Margaret Durante , Hot Rush Music being the producing team. Also, "It's Alive" is sung by Nayanna Holley. —Djaa995 18:21, 11 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

We need to just wait until a verifiable source can be found. "Encyclopedic content must be verifiable." Redirect pages[edit]

Ok, I've tried to be patient, but I have to ask people to PLEASE stop redirecting this page. I'm fine with where it is now (or wherever it ends up), but let's just decide where it belongs once and for all and then LEAVE it in ONE place. As of now, all the cast's pages link to Shake It Up (TV series) which I've tried to redirect here, but for some reason it doesn't open the page (click the link above and you'll see what I mean). Can someone who knows more about it than I do please redirect directly to this page, so I don't have to go back into all the star's pages and change all the backlinks one by one? Thank you --- Crakkerjakk (talk) 10:37, 16 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, I've figured out what I was doing wrong.. I was using a capital "I" in the word "It" instead of a lower-case "i". I personally believe it should be a capital "I", but as I've said before - wherever this page ends up - PLEASE check and make sure that all the previous incarnations of the page redirect to the finalized page or else it just screws up every backlink on every single castmembers' bio page. --- Crakkerjakk (talk) 10:45, 16 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, a capital "I" should be used for this page. User:Iamjs13 (who has now been blocked as sockpuppet) moved the page as "Shake It Up!", with the exclamation point, which is not correct. Then User:Gruselfratze moved the page to "Shake it Up" lowercasing the "i" in "it", because of the series logo, which should not be taken literally. The page's current title is now "Shake it Up!". I'm about request that the page be moved back to "Shake It Up (TV series)", due to numerous online sources using the capital "I" and the exclamation point not being used. Also, the episode titles for the series using the capital "I" as well. QuasyBoy 18:44, 16 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I echo what QuasyBoy said, I asked an administrator to move it back to "Shake It Up (TV series)" but they didn't yet. First of all an exclamation point (!) is NOT in the series' name. And in the logo, the title is STYLIZED as Shake it Up, but that is just the stylization. Candyo32 20:52, 16 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Then it is settled, I am requesting the page move. QuasyBoy 21:44, 16 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Like I was saying, I didn't really have a problem with the page here (the Tivo listings and commercials for the show on the Disney channel DO include an exclamation point "!"), but my problem is with people redirecting the page without giving any thought to everything that backlinks to it. Once a page has already been moved once before then it's not enough to simply redirect the current page, but then you also need to check the What links here page and redirect all the pages that redirected to it as well (Wikipedia does not automatically "double-redirect", so it becomes a long maze of pages with redirect links that the reader must navigate). It was just getting late last night when I left that message, and once I couldn't get the Shake It Up (TV series) page to redirect here (before I realized I had capitalized the "I"), I just finally lost my patience. Like I was saying - If/when this page is redirected again, then I think that person really should be mindful that they need to check to see every alternate spelling/punctuation/disambiguation page that redirects there and make sure to redirect all those pages as well. Don't just leave it for the Wikipedia "maids" to clean up. --- Crakkerjakk (talk) 22:14, 16 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Shake it Up!Shake It Up (TV series) — The latter name is the correct title for the series. There is no exclamation point and the "i" in "It" should NOT be lowercased. Here are a few sources that compliment my argument: official site Deadline.com Seventeen magazine QuasyBoy 21:55, 16 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Support --- Sounds good to me.  :-) --- Crakkerjakk (talk) 22:17, 16 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • I think it should redirect directly to the moved page. The exclamation point already distinguishes it from other pages with the same name, such as the Cars album or the Divine song, etc, and every day it stays on this page there are literally thousands of people who will now associate the show with this page. I don't mind going in and redirecting the pages that should lead there once the matter is settled once and for all, but I just don't want to see it moved around again after that. I was just getting fed up with the page getting bounced around without anyone giving any thought to the cause-and-effect of all of it. Redirect pages are like a complicated house of cards, so when somebody just decides to move a page for a popular show like this one - it creates a domino effect for every page that links and/or redirects to it - so it's not just a simple matter of redirecting a page anytime somebody "feels" like it. --- Crakkerjakk (talk) 05:25, 17 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Support per QuasyBoy's reasons, not to mention the fact that Disney Channel also doesn't use an exclamation point in any of its promos for the show that I have seen (with the exception of one). However, I don't often pay much attention to Disney's commercials, especially the ones for Shake It Up, so I might be missing any promos that may be using an exclamation point. - Purplewowies (talk) 05:22, 18 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Support I agree with the I in it not being lower case being a m9stake, but the exclamation point actually is in the title, as I've checked websites and its official name on tv. Therefore, it should be moved to Shake It Up! --Markey77 (talk) 22:59, 20 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

True, the eclamation point "!" is used in some of the official Disney Channel promos, as well as the TV Guide and Tivo listings for the show, but it's not always used, so at this point I'll just be happy to see the show moved back to it's original page as Shake It Up (TV series) as long as it stays there. --- Crakkerjakk (talk) 23:20, 20 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Since when is Tinka named "Tinkerbell"?[edit]

This is news to me. Gunther calls her Tinkabell (not Tinkerbell) ONCE in the "Add It Up" episode, and that sounded like a pet name, but never once is that said to be her given name. Did I miss something? --- Crakkerjakk (talk) 22:46, 23 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I think Tinkerbell is Tinka's nickname don't you think? In one episode Gunther called her Tinkabell. Thank You. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rtucker913 (talkcontribs) 14:59, 4 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
My thoughts exactly. I posted a question about this here over a week ago (in case there had been some official Disney press materials that I was unaware of), but nobody has responded in 10 days. This, combined with the fact that "Tinka" is a common female name in Eastern Europe, I am convinced that "Tinkabell" was simply a nickname Gunther has for her - combining her given name "Tinka" with the J.M. Barrie character "Tinkerbell". --- Crakkerjakk (talk) 20:50, 4 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Hi to you two. I actually think Tinkerbell, not Tinkabell, is Tinka's full name because in the one episode their dad called her Tinkerbell. But you may be right, don't get me wrong. Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made. -Atmoz (talk) 14:27, 26 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Rocky is said to be a vegetarian on the show, but I'm guessing by the end of the first season there will be enough information about all the central characters to create a "list of characters" sister page for the show. For now, I think it's best to keep the character information on show's main page as a simple, straight-forward synopsis for each character. I don't really see a need to start listing every single character trait for every character here on the show's main page. --- Crakkerjakk (talk) 01:51, 6 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

One-shot guest stars[edit]

First, I'll just say that I LOVE Anneliese van der Pol, so this has nothing to do with how I feel about her, but I'm just adding my vote that I agree with Quasyboy's previous [edit], I don't really see the need to simply start listing every single guest-star that appears in ONE episode. The show has had other notable guest-stars that are just as well-known as Van der pol, including Cat Deeley and Chris Trousdale. There is already a List of Shake It Up episodes page listing all the guest-stars, and I think after the show has been on for a full season there will be enough information on the show to begin a separate character page, but for now I don't see the value in adding every one-shot guest-star to the main page. It just clutters up what I think is a pretty well-written page with unnecessary "trivia" and encourages others to do the same. --- Crakkerjakk (talk) 22:34, 4 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

That is exactly my argument, Jakk. Why should a guest stars section be made just because van der Pol is guest starring, considering that the show has had other guest stars already, like the two you just mentioned. All the guest stars for the show are already listed in the episode list. Plus, I get the feeling Pretendworld is just a fanboy who just wants to post her name on the main page. But for now we shall see if other guest stars will be added to the section besides van der Pol. QuasyBoy 00:10, 5 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I love Anneliese. She and Raven are my favorite Disney Channel stars of all time, but even if other guest-stars were added, I don't think we need to start encouraging every fan of the show to start tacking on every one-off guest-star (notable or otherwise) with edits like "So-and-so gust-starred once as so-and-so in such-and-such episode" and "So-and-so also guest-starred once as so-and-so in such-and-such episode", etc, etc. I've seen it happen too many times on other pages and it's tedious. If it absolutely MUST be included on the main page (which I still don't think it does), I don't think we need much more than a footnote on the main page like "Some notable celebrity guest-stars have included Renée Taylor, Chris Trousdale, Anneliese van der Pol, etc, etc..." We don't need a character/episode synopsis for every single one of them - Like I said, we already have an episode list page for that. --- Crakkerjakk (talk) 00:38, 5 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, Totally agree with you. I am against the section, I already removed it twice. Your footnote suggestion is wonderful idea, You can go ahead and make it happen if you want. :) QuasyBoy 05:31, 5 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
You're nicer than I am. I would have just waited a week to see if anyone else replied here and then probably just removed the section, but I see you've already made a paragraph for it. It might actually be for the best since the protection-lock has expired on the page there will probably be tons of kids trying to add every guest-star, so I suppose it's best to have a place for them to put it instead of going through this again. --- Crakkerjakk (talk) 05:50, 7 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yep, I already did it., All thanks to your idea. :) QuasyBoy 19:08, 7 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Caroline Sunshine - recurring "guest-star"[edit]

I see there's been a lot of confusion among editors about Caroline Sunshine's role as Tinka and whether she is one of the "leads" or whether she is "recurring". I made the same mistake editing here when the show first began, so I'm just creating a section here to try and explain. While Caroline Sunshine is in just as many episodes as Kenton Duty and they basically get the same amount of screen time, Kenton Duty is credited in the opening credits as one of the lead "stars", while Caroline Sunshine is credited at the end credits as a "guest star". I understand this has been a confusing distinction for most viewers watching the show, and I agree - Caroline Sunshine is just as much a "lead" as Kenton Duty, but the way she is credited on this article page is simply following Disney's credit format on the show. For now, Disney technically considers Caroline Sunshine as a recurring "guest star" (although I have no idea why) - whether this appears to be "unfair", and seemingly without any reasonable explanation since Kenton Duty is considered one of the "leads" is not something that should be debated here through editing wars. --- Crakkerjakk (talk) 23:01, 19 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I looked into this awhile ago and people started talking about it on Youtube. So this is from the Disney Channel Wikipedia page: "Disney Channel typically imposes an unwritten "6-to-a-cast" rule as its original series generally have no more than six contract cast members; its series also have only between 6 and 8 credited staff writers (fewer than the 8 to 11 writers standard with most scripted television series)" So there you have it! There is Bella Thorne, Zendaya, Davis Cleveland, Roshon Fegan, Adam Irigoyen, and Kenton Duty are the main six. But rumor has it that Caroline Sunshine WILL be apart of the main-cast in Season 2. --- Djaa995 (talk) 17:45, 04 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Possible Reason on Caroline Sunshine's "Recurring" character[edit]

I have a possible reason why Caroline Sunshine's role as Tinka might only be a recurring character. This might sound silly, and this might not be the actual reason, but there tends to be a tridition with the Disney Channel Original Shows that only a maximum of 6 people can be a main role. If you look back at:

  • Hannah Montana (with Moises)
  • Wizards of Waverly Place
  • Suite Life of Zack and Cody
  • Suite Life on Deck (with Doc)
  • That's So Raven
  • Sonny with a Chance

You'll notice they all only have a maximum of 6 characters, as does Shake It Up without Caroline on the title.

It's just a thought.

Goku1st (talkcontribs) 09:53, 6 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Caroline Sunshine's role as Tinka is credited as a guest star in the end credits when she is in an episode and she has missed eight so far. Opening credit cast is the starring cast and basically gets paid for every episode even if not in every episode. This is all contractual including the order in the credits. If anything Kenton Duty should be considered as recurring based on the eight episodes he has missed. Geraldo Perez (talk) 05:28, 7 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

CeCe and Rocky[edit]

Why is Rocky's name in the character list first before CeCe's. We see more from CeCe's point of view than we do Rocky, plus the fact that CeCe's apartment is the hang out for the group, just like it is in shows like Hannah Montana, Wizards of Waverly Place, and That's So Raven. We've never even seen Rocky's place! Rocky is obviously CeCe's sidekick since she does whatever CeCe says and everyone on the show calls Rocky her(CeCe) sidekick. There was only one time that they though CeCe was a sidekick but that was an axident. CeCe's name should come first in the character section --ArielMelody (talk) 18:35, 9 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Zendaya comes first in the opening credits as shown in any episode given a line by line reading top to bottom, left to right. In reality they are equal co-leads, neither starring before the other and the placement of the lead actors names with Zendaya in the higher position but on the right and Bella Thorne in a lower position but on the left is a classic method of showing equal billing. Also the lead paragraph of the article is pretty explicit about the equal billing and roles of the two actresses as part of a buddy show. The order of the actors and characters in this article is therefore somewhat arbitrary but people keep changing it based on who their favorite character is at any given time. Pick one and stick with it, it really doesn't matter. Also if you do change the order, explain in the edit summary why you made the change otherwise I just assume there is no reason other than favoritism for a particular actress. Geraldo Perez (talk) 18:52, 9 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Actually I do and it's not just because I like CeCe and Belle Thorne more than Rocky and Zendaya. There's the fact that CeCe's place is basically the place they hang out and try to think of a way to solve the problems. Have we ever been at Rocky's place? No! We see more of CeCe's mom, we've seen Rocky's only in two episodes while we see CeCe's in several episodes. Plus the fact the plans that are made to solve problems or that would involve them possibly getting into trouble are always thought by CeCe, never Rocky. Aren't those things usually owned by the main character? Such as Miley in Hannah Montana, Alex in Wizards of Wazerly Place, Raven in That's So Raven, China in ANT Farm, Teddy in Good Luck Charlie, Lizzie in Lizzie Mcguire. Plus whenever we see Bella and Zendaya in commercials, Bella's name is always the first name said and she's always the first one talking. Is that enough reason for you? --ArielMelody (talk) 00:50, 10 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not the one to be convinced - I don't care one way or the other, just stating the facts and how Disney has chosen to cast the co-leads. In the other shows you mention, the lead character is credited first by herself with the co-stars separate and sequential and in some order of importance. That is not how this show is credited, both leads are credited first together and have equal billing. If you want to change the order of the characters in the article, do it but just be sure to add an edit summary that says the issue was discussed in the talk page. Or just say credits are in alphabetical order for the two co-leads which puts Zendaya (who does not use Coleman in the credits) second after Bella Thorne. Geraldo Perez (talk) 01:14, 10 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

And I so agree with you Ariel Bella Thorne, in my opinion should be the main character because she is the one with the most lines and shes the 'one that makes things happen', she got them on shake it up and without her I probably would never watch Shake it up because Bella brings the life in it! Consensus is to create List of Shake It Up characters article.

I propose that a new article be created List of Shake It Up characters moving the contents of Shake It Up (TV series)#Characters to that article and leaving behind a link to the new article and short summary character descriptions. There has been some effort to create individual character articles which I believe is premature for this show. Other shows have character articles and removing that info from this article put this article in better balance with other show info and allows an article with more detail than would be permitted here to be created. Geraldo Perez (talk) 05:39, 10 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. Nadanon (talk) 15:27, 26 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I think there definitely should be a separate page because if it's on the main page only, it would be weird if you could put in the big details only. When I edit characters pages for shows, I like to put in as much detail so you can really learn as much as you can about the character; really get to know them, but you couldn't learn as much on the main page. Bella Thorne[edit]

Bella Thorne should be the main character because there are more episodes that show Cece leading everything and Rocky only has a couple episodes about her...anyone agree with me? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Joanna Mathesone (talkcontribs) 21:07, 21 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It doesn't matter. The actresses have equal billing and are co-leads. This is how the show was advertised and that is how the opening credits show them, equal. They are in alphabetical order here and on IMDB, that is the only reason Thorne is listed first. Future episodes may or may not center the story on one or the other. CeCe and Rocky are appearing on Club Penguin it has been confirmed they are coming and are dressed as penguins so shouldn't we put that down a crossover with Club Penguin. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.106.49.194 (talk) 23:31, 9 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Confirmed where? Needs a reference (a link to where you found this out). If not show characters in character it won't be a crossover and doesn't belong in this article. Geraldo Perez (talk) 23:36, 9 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Well one I don't know how to link two it is on the website if you type up Club a penguin click the first one you see and on the home page it says CeCe and Rocky is here and shows them and if you go on to the website and look in the newspaper it says CeCe and Rocky is coming they also have a website that talks about them from Shake it Up. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.106.49.194 (talk) 23:54, 10 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

From what I can see this does not appear to be anything more than the characters showing up and not as part of any crossover with the topic of this article. I don't think it would be appropriate for this article as it is more about Club Penguin than Shake It Up. Geraldo Perez (talk) 01:29, 11 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Make Your Mark[edit]

Should the Make Your Mark competition be mentioned in this article? It seems as though it will be an annual event that ties into the show. - Purplewowies (talk) 05:20, 8 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I think if it ties into the show and it should be mentioned. Geraldo Perez (talk) 05:25, 8 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Where is Carlton? Where is Tyra?[edit]

Alfonso Ribeiro directed TWO episodes in season 2, FOUR in season 3, and played Mr. Zigfeld, notably in episodes with Tyra Banks (Miss Burke). Both should be mentioned. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.200.16.214 (talk) 19:54, 9 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
