Precedence[edit]

The maint ext of the article contradicts the precedence information in the navbar. The main text says that Kirti chakra is the next highest award.

Untitled[edit]

Since the stipends of the Govt of India and the Govt of J&K are mentioned, it may be appropriate to mention incentives offered by other State Governments and the Railways (they are provided a free 2nd AC pass along with one accompanying passenger - I'd put it in, but have no source. I know the pass exists cause I have traveled on it...) Saurabh.jaywant (talk) 16:22, 20 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

List of recipients[edit]

Proposed merges to the list[edit]

Proposed merge of Sudhir Kumar Tudu into Shaurya Chakra[edit]

The information on this page would be perfect for the recipients section on Shaurya Chakra Gusfriend (talk) 22:34, 19 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed merge of Arun Kumar Pandey into Shaurya Chakra[edit]

This page seems suited to being merged into Shaurya Chakra as it is about their award of that medal. The section "Recipients" would be a good place for this information. Gusfriend (talk) 22:36, 19 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Criteria for list inclusion[edit]

The list of awardees indicates that there are currently 2122 recipients of this award. Should we include all of them on this list? If not, what are the criteria for inclusion? Including over two thousand biographies on one single page is not technically practical. Before 6 June 2021 there was no list, and the editor who added the list was indefinitely blocked for sock puppetry. Years before that, another editor's addition of the list was reverted as a copyright violation and that editor was also indefinitely blocked for "Numerous editing problems, including Copyright violations and competence issues". I'm not sure we should even try to duplicate the list which is on the gallantryawards.gov.in website. The bios of two of the four men you proposed for merge above were deleted as they are only notable for being awarded the Shaurya Chakra and there is some question as to whether the award itself gives notability to each of its recipients. – wbm1058 (talk) 15:47, 30 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
