Refimprove[edit]

For a subject to be notable, it needs sources that discuss and are intellectually independent of the subject. For an engineering concept like this, that means ensuring that the term in in common use (as opposed to recently coined by a particular research group or graduate project). A look on Google scholar makes it appear that it is the case that this subject is notable, but the sources still need to be improved with references that are independent from one another. Dubious tag[edit]

From the article: "...compared to scramjet, the shcramjet has a reduced overall weight (which directly leads to substantial reduction in overall vehicle weight ... and higher efficiency." This appears to conflict with the statement in the next section: "Though shock and detonation waves are related to high total pressure loss during combustion, the theoretical total pressure loss associated with shcramjet combustor approaches that of the scramjet engine at increasing Mach numbers." This second statement seems more like what one would expect - that an engine that uses very rapid combustion would experience efficiency lower than or equal to a slower-burning option. How do these two statements reconcile together? VQuakr (talk) 00:49, 20 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
