Laika and Monument[edit]

Which islands are those? I'm relatively sure that the names I've put on the map are the right ones, but I had those two names left over from the article and couldn't find references anywhere on the 'Net to them. The map can easily be modified, of course.

Also, should the article really mention East Épi as one of the underwater volcanoes in the Shepherd Islands? More than one 'Net reference puts it on Épi's north coast, which would seem to be outside the group. Kelisi 21:01, 21 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I got the list of islands from the map in National Geographic Atlas of the World, 8th ed, plate 94. Laïka (elev 87) is about 2.5' north of the center of Tongoa. The map gives two islands there; I don't know which it is. It is perhaps the crater of Kuwae. Monument (elev 155) is about 2' SSE of Mataso. There are also three small specks in the sea between Epi and Émaé that may also have names, not given in the atlas. For the East Épi volcano, I believe I mixed it up with Kuwae, and you are right that it should be removed. Rigadoun 21:58, 25 April 2006 (UTC); corrected 18:11, 26 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
