The true story of Sherwood[edit]
Sherwood is the scene of the first college student riot in the United States. The students protested the strict treatment they received at the Methodist College, and piled up their mattresses and lit them on fire. Most of the then prosperous town of Sherwood burned down. What is left is a remnant of the once thriving community. Now there is a small general store, a church, one business, a post office, and a few houses. The gas station closed down when Glen got mugged. The restaurant closed down because no one would eat there. The Robin Hood Inn, the local tavern, still operates with a continual batch of new owners. There are no jobs. The police set speed traps along the long 25 mph. speed zone, and frequent the town to make easy money for the county. The large grand old trees are rotting away...the town was named after Sherwood forest by some Nottingham refugees, the Killingworths.
