Page Title

The title of this page is misleading for the list as it is. For many of the games in this list, Miyamoto was only the producer or supervisor. I believe that it would only be accurate to say that he "created" the games that he directed. So maybe either the page should be renamed or the list should be reduced to only games that he directed? I think a page rename seems like a good choice, but I am having trouble thinking of a good title to change it to. -- Not only that, but I'm pretty sure Miyamoto only Surpervised Wind Waker, not Directed it.

This is nonsensical guys. In any industry - films, TV, commercials - the producer "is" the creator. Very often he SELECTED (for goodness sake!!) the writers, etc, and from the 100s of ideas they came up with, he and he alone chose that idea as the one to spend millions on creating. "but I am having trouble thinking of a good title to change it to." the answer is unbelievably simple, "games Produced by Miyamoto" 92.148.37.234 (talk) 12:05, 17 January 2013 (UTC)

what about...

Animal Crossing? Mario Kart: Double Dash? Pokémon games? Kirby games? Later Donkey Kong games? Zelda : The Minish Cap & Oracle games? Mario Paint? Mario Party games? Mario Tennis games? Mario Golf? Super Mario Bros. Deluxe? Mario vs. Donkey Kong? Mario Pinball Land? Pilotwings games? Hamtaro games? Sim City games? Star Fox Adventures? 1080° Avalanche? Excitebike 64? Ice Climber? Ice Hockey? Stunt Race FX? Shadows of the Empire? Disney's Magical Mirror? Pac-Man vs? Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles? Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes? Custom Robo? Geist? BarryH 13:58, 14 November 2005 (UTC)

I don't think he was involved in all of those. --Optichan 14:44, 8 March 2006 (UTC)
He's listed in their credits. He has mentioned his involvement in some of them in interviews. BarryH 16:59, 9 March 2006 (UTC)

Which moron keeps removing Geist from the list? Shigeru Miyamoto is clearly listed as producer in the game credit and manual.

New Super Mario Brothers?

New_Super_Mario_Bros., would this game qualify for this article? I am assuming yes.
Flood of SYNs 08:32, 14 March 2006 (UTC)

Was Shigery Miyamoto involved in the production or direction of New Super Mario Bros?
He was the supervisor. I'm going to add it now.

Created or Produces?

This article is about his creations, so it cannot say that Metroid Prime (and many other games) was created by S. Miyamoto.

Ambiguity

Anyone care to elaborate on the difference between producer, director and designer? It's not clear at all in the article, and the entries for those positions only muddy the waters. 71.193.152.63 03:09, 2 December 2006 (UTC)

I second this... I have no idea what the differences are, though it appears Director is a higher level of involvement than Producer. -Chinju 07:34, 17 May 2007 (UTC)
Furthermore, it's not at all clear what "Designer" means, as, though this list has him only as a Designer on 3 games, many of the articles for other games on this list mention him as a Designer as well (e.g., Super Mario Bros. 3). -Chinju 07:37, 17 May 2007 (UTC)
I have also no idea. A

Also who tagged it for sources? The sources are obviously the end credits of each game. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.149.76.154 (talk) 17:19, 5 April 2008 (UTC)

Why do future titles have a "release" date?

Certain games are on this list which haven't been released yet (and yet they're mentioned under "release"). Mightn't it be best to make a separate table that states games Miyamoto-sama is developing, with an expected released date (per verifiable sources)? Because what do we do if (in the unlikely chance) that some of these games are canceled? We shouldn't be fortune telling here. Drumpler 18:07, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

Super Mario Galaxy

Shigeru Miyamoto is not the director for this game : it's Yoshiaki Koizumi.

See there his interview with Satoru Iwata : http://fr.wii.com/software/interviews/mario_galaxy/vol1/index.html

But maybe he's a producer. Marc Navatier 15:10, 7 November 2007 (UTC)

He was in charge of game design, as is listed in the game credits and the Iwata Asks interviews. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.112.32.18 (talk) 22:03, 18 November 2008 (UTC)

Phantom Hourglass

It should be in the list aswell! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.123.128.197 (talk) 21:06, 24 November 2007 (UTC)

Oh c'mon... please respond! Has Phantom Hourglass been created by Shigeru Miyamoto or not? Why isn't it on the list? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.123.171.245 (talk) 13:15, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

So yeah... I finished the game, and he was in the credits, so why doesn't anyone add this game in the list? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.82.246.245 (talk) 21:18, 9 February 2008 (UTC)

This article is free to edit by anyone; I'm not saying "do it yourself", I'm only saying that you don't have to rely on other editors. - A Link to the Past (talk) 04:18, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

How do we deal with such a case. He's officially listed in the credits as a Producer, but there are several interviews in which he states that he is indeed a director as well (he came in mid way through development and took control). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.127.48.166 (talk) 06:17, 17 August 2008 (UTC)

This article should be deleted

I think this article should be deleted. First of all, the title is misleading. I don't think it's fair to say that he "created" these games when a large majority of these games he only supervised/produced. Even if the title was renamed to "every game Shigeru Miyamoto was involved in" there would still be games missing. However, I don't see why Miyamoto gets his own separate article of all the games he "created" or was involved in, when no other game designer does. This article seems to be very amateur and I see no reason for it to exist. --70.190.69.57 (talk) 14:37, 11 April 2009 (UTC)

If to be at all relevant it should be limited solely to games which he designed the characters/worlds for. For example Mario Bros. Zelda. Most of these games he has no claim to at all AFAIK. I'm thinking I would be aware of his involvement in these games if so. The comments area would be better used to name the characters/aspects of the game that he is known to have conceptualized. Because that's what "creation" means after all!! If he planned out the game play that is also interesting. --Truth Glass (talk) 23:46, 2 August 2011 (UTC)

Geist?

Luigi's Mansion 2

Should Luigi's Mansion 2 be added to the list of these projects since he is the one who is overseeing it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.13.66.210 (talk) 22:59, 11 October 2011 (UTC)

Scope?

@Dissident93: I thought the scope was simply games in which he is credited as "director", "designer", or "producer", though after your edit (which kinda got caught up in an edit conflict, sorry :s) I noticed that this list also lists games in which he only had a supervising role. I'm wondering if that isn't too broad of a scope. After all, how much influence does he have exactly on these games? Some are pretty interesting, such as his role in Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes, but I'm wondering if this stuff should be in the same table as his "own" works. ~Mable (chat) 09:31, 25 January 2016 (UTC)

@Maplestrip: I've only added the more recent ones because earlier supervised titles already existed on the list. I wouldn't be advised against removing all titles in which he didn't directly work on though. (director, designer, and/or producer). ~ Dissident93 (talk) 10:05, 25 January 2016 (UTC)
Well, I'd still be interested in leaving notable contributions or roles in video games in the article, but perhaps as a separate section. If there's a source for it, such a section could start with a line such as "Since 2006, Miyamoto has been taking a supervising role in many Nintendo projects." Such a section could also say that he did the original game design of Mario vs. Donkey Kong 2, his role in Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes, and his general role in Nintendo today, which kinda falls under "Miyamoto's works". Thoughts? ~Mable (chat) 12:35, 25 January 2016 (UTC)
