Objection to renaming to "Shimadzu"[edit]

I suggest to revert the name of this article to Shimadzu Corporation, or rename to Shimadzu Corp. because;

  1. "Shimadzu", or spelled "Shimazu", is one of Japanese surnames derived from Shimazu family.
  2. In this case the word "Corporation" is a part of the company's name, and it is essential to clarify that this article describes the company of "Shimadzu Corporation" (Shimadzu Seisakusho; 島津製作所).

For more explanations and examples, please refer to Talk:Takenaka and Talk:Obayashi. --J o 06:07, 6 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I am going to renaming this article to "Shimadzu Corp." because it seems to be no objection to my suggestion. --J o 15:35, 16 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Notability/Sources[edit]

The article is mainly sourced from the company website. I've restrained myself from nominating it for deletion because (1) the company claims to have existed since 1875, which suggests it is likely to have received news coverage sometime, somewhere (2) there may be sources in Japanese (an impenetrable language to me). needs improvement though! History[edit]

There seems to be very little about Shimadzu Corporation's WW2-era history, whether about its war-time products or its war-time management. The company's official history lacks this information as well, almost as if that entire era was purposefully skipped over. Any information on this would be particularly useful for this Wikipedia article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 63.247.175.195 (talk) 17:48, 17 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Price[edit]

How much is the HyperVision HPV-X2 (https://www.ssi.shimadzu.com/products/high-speed-video-camera/hyper-vision-hpv-x2.html) sold for? What is the production/manufacturing cost of the HyperVision HPV-X2? --User123o987name (talk) 00:25, 28 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Removing self-sourced info & reminder that Wikipedia is not a directory[edit]

I am removing the lists of products and locations, mostly because they go against #7 in the policy WP:NOTDIRECTORY. If someone wants to add some significant products, it would probably be better if they are written with context given to each product, and in sentence form (rather than as a list).

Also, any information like this should come from an independent source (not the company's website) to show that the included products and locations are significant enough to be included in an encyclopedia article. - Whisperjanes (talk) 04:58, 7 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
