Notability and advertising tags[edit]

Although agreed its not a high quality article, and could probably be better wikified this is better written and laid out than a lot of of articles appearing in the wikipedia. It looks and reads like a perfectly decent proto-article to me. For a real example of a bad advertising page, see PSP Temple Squad'nLeedah 22:17, 24 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I am the editor who initially tagged it as {{Advertising}}. I did this because of the style (subsequently, another editor decided notability was the more salient issue). Whilst the anecdotal lead paragraph may be amusing to the band's friends and admirers, as written it is more colourful personal legend than encyclopedic, verifiable fact.

Shotgun and Jaybrid were born out of the long sunny yukon summer of 2003. Dick Morello (formerly of The Janitors) came to the Yukon to practice the Janitorial arts, and was later joined by his lifelong friend from Ontario, Shotgun Jimmie [real name = ?] (formerly Janitor and member of drummer). Along with Dom Lloyd they played a weekly set at The Pit, and recorded "Dawson Towne Recordings" with Sandy Silver. While touring Dawson Towne, their iron steed, the Road King, decided that Midgic NB would be the site of its last hurrah. With all their car totalled but all their gear intact, they made it to drummer's (and Jimmie's) old hometown of Sackville NB.

Furthermore, are there mainstream media references for any of the biographical material throughout? (That is, sources other than just websites connected with the band / the band's promoters / the band's fans—see Wikipedia verifiability guidelines.)

Agreed, id like to see it stay, as i said, it IS better written than a lot of the crap that stays on Wiki. Perhaps someone with some knowledge of the band could get in there and edit it. I dont think it warrants a speedy deletion tag, either for notability OR advertising, because i dont believe it goes against either, just because i havent heard of this band, or certain other wikipedians, doesnt mean its not a well known band. Although personally i actually have no objections to articles being written about bands as long as its done by someone outside the band, and is er.... Wikipedic?. Id say perhaps it just needs a wikify tag, and if no one bothers fixing it, then a delete tag Squad'nLeedah 01:57, 25 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

WP:MUSIC criteria #1 and #10 are satisfied by the fact that the band has the current #3 single on CBC Radio 3's The R3-30. See here for confirmation. Also, criterion #5 is fulfilled by their association with Julie Doiron. That said, this does need a once-over for style and grammar, so I've retagged it {{cleanup}} and will tackle it myself in a couple of days if nobody gets to it first.
