Wrong Framing?[edit]

In the first paragraph it says: "The deliberate German targeting of civilian morale presaged the total wars of the 20th century". This framing is probably wrong, as Strassburg had been a German Free Imperial Town since the Middle Ages and despite some efforts of ethnic cleansing done in Alsace/Elsass by the French for quite a while, most of the population still had German native tongue. As French military declared the city a fortress, French troops might therefore have used civilians as a shield, as the Russians do today in Ukraine. 94.216.31.16 (talk) 08:02, 11 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
