Article expansion

Article name

Here's my reasoning behind the naming of the article, as an FYI:

• Sein Hoornik: She is most commonly known by her first name. If someone wanted to look up information about Sien, I doubt that many would know to use her birth name, Clasina.
• (Van Gogh series):In keeping with the naming convention for other articles about a series of work, Van Gogh series is used in the article name.

Suggest you call it Sien (Van Gogh series) rather than Sien Hoornik (Van Gogh series). You could always incorporate the latter through a redirect. Good to see you uploaded all the images. Why not move it into the main Wikipedia area now? It would provide more people with an opportunity to contribute. - Ipigott (talk) 12:08, 10 June 2011 (UTC)

Either article name is fine with me. I'm running this by User talk:Modernist to get his opinion. I see my snafu Sien Hoornik (Van Gogh series) page has been deleted, so either name can be used as soon as we finalize it.--CaroleHenson (talk) 14:44, 10 June 2011 (UTC)

Depiction of families

This section looks out of place here, surely.

Unless I see vehement objection, I'll find a home for it elsewhere, though I suspect the recent Theo identification by VGM has already been noted.

At some stage I will add the Hulsker numbers into all these illusatration. The de la Faille numbers are all very fine, but not everyone can afford the $100 or so for a second-hand copy of the 1970 catalogue raisonné, and really you need catalogue numbers because titles of Van Gogh works are as ephemeral and fanciful as their prices.

Picture of the day

Sorrow is a drawing by Vincent van Gogh produced in 1882, two years after Van Gogh decided to become an artist. It is one of numerous works which use Clasina Maria Hoornik—here depicted as a 32-year-old pregnant woman—as a model. Van Gogh appears to have thought highly of the drawing and considered it "the best figure I've drawn". The drawing is part of the Garman Ryan Collection held at The New Art Gallery Walsall.Drawing: Vincent van Gogh
