Is it just me or is this woman an Icelandic version of Gwen Stefani.

82.39.1.25 20:57, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

Probably just you. --Bjarki 21:37, 18 May 2006 (UTC)
She's brilliant is what she is. Toby (talk) 22:15, 18 May 2006 (UTC)
She may have lost the contest, but she won my heart. ♡ Rōnin 23:02, 18 May 2006 (UTC)
I think it's more accurate to compare her as a musical version of Sasha Cohen - i.e. someone that doesn't know they've taken their joke/parody waaaaay too far.

Lol Gwen Stefani, bitch is almost 40 and shes singing :"I aint no holla back girl".....Its so pathetic. She aint girl at all, damn, song would sound funny even if a 25 year old sing it,but shes too damn old.I dont know about Silvia though

Is this fluent/logical english?

"Over the last 25 years names with the former name two syllables and the latter name (middle name) one syllable have been extremely popular in Iceland, and Silvia's name is therefore considered quite typical, which describes her character very well."

"...former name of two syllables and latter name (middle name) of one syllable..."

Furthermore, Sil-ví-a is three syllables. Okay, it's "therefore considered quite typical". Anyway, somebody edit if seen needed. --M82FI

It's two syllables long (Sil-via) if you pronounce it correctly, it's only three if you pronounce it like it was a Finnish word. - Bobet 13:31, 25 May 2006 (UTC)
So you pronounce Silvía more or less like the word silver. --M82FI
It is three syllables, Sil-ví-a. I'm an Icelander, and I am 100% sure. --Heida Maria 12:42, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
Section removed as unfluent, confusing and irrelevant. --M82FI

Your 15 minutes are up!

What a stuck up bitch! It's about time someone knocked off the reign of bubble gum pop music! Lordi rules! Andy Warhol is calling. "14:57, 14:58, 14:59..." --Bushido Hacks 03:39, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

Silvia Night is a satire from beginning to end. She would probably agree with you, Bushido Hacks. --Heida Maria 13:36, 22 May 2006 (UTC)

Horrible

Silvia Knight is more Britney than Britney she shelf. I am from Finland. Go Lordi.

I love her! She's superb!

She has cautivated me. I am from Spain. And also liked Lordi but I'm smart enough to know that Silvia Night is a character. Her performance is superb, a very good satiric interpretation.

Citation needed for "fictional character"?

I briefly browsed the official site of Silvía Night, and couldn't find the information that she is a fictional character there (neither did I expect to). It's a fairly important bit of information, so if anyone could provide a citation for it, I think it would be good.

Stating the TV show the character is from is enough, is it not? It's really obvious. This is like you going to a movie site and looking for confirmation and that the characters in the movie are actually fictional. Daniel 00:26, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
I don't know if I can cite it, but she really is fictional, and is played by Ágústa Eva, an Icelandic actress and singer of the band Ske. You can see pictures here: [1] And imdb.com has an article here [2] --Heida Maria 09:44, 23 May 2006 (UTC)

Well in Greece her behaviour was first subject in all channels. Two clues :

  • NOBODY mentioned that the journalist was fake
  • This journalist did not appear to ANY channel to make any comments about this

In Greece journalists *RULE*. I mean they are superior to politicians. If anyone ANYONE dares to touch (or even annoy) a journalist the next day he will be called FASCIST ANTI-DEMOCRAT. If the offender is a politician he will NEVER be re-elected. If it is Silvia Night... well.. she will not make it to the finals. The journalist will be proclaimed the "heroic fighter of freedom of speecc etc. etc." and will be in EVERY Channel. Well the offended one did never appear anywhere. This means either that the journalist acknowledged greek reality OR that it was part of the show. Greek journalists are smart enough bastards to let the subject go as it is. It makes journalists to appear more heroic. That is what they want. You see I added the lines

"During the press conference she ordered the journalists not to look her in the eyes. One of them did and she ordered her bodyguard to take her out. The bodyguard obeyed and carried the journalist ..."

and just today I read the newest version and it occured to me

  • " Those bastards ! THey have been lying all the time !"
  • This is typical of Greek journalists. They DO lie all the time. and if they get caught lying:
  • "Well yeah I did lie. But HEY I am not a priest nor apolitician nor a judge ! It is my civil right to lie ! Anyway I did it only for the peoples own good because they deserve another (FAKE) point of view !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well enough of Greek bullshit. I don't lnow whether a Greek's opinion of the subject counts as a citation but I tried to explain how the cituation is. If she WAS real she would be today a "HERO OF THE MEDIA" in Greek TV. Well she is not.

Pano... the journalist carried by the bully was not Greek, AFAIK she was from iceland, and I believe she was of the 'show'. Pictureuploader 21:53, 22 May 2006 (UTC)

Lyrics in Eurovision Song

If you watch the video again at www.youtube.com, in the middle of the song she says: "Oh my god! It's a golden shower!!", while golden ribbons fall onto her head. The humour in the fact she was able to include this in her stage performance in front of thousands of viewers should not be missed. fonetikli 23:13, 25 May 2006 (UTC)

I didn't think that nor the act of insulting a bunch of people on national television was funny at all. I guess Icelandic sense of humour is too weird for me. Miskin 11:21, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
What bunch of people? Pictureuploader 20:46, 27 May 2006 (UTC)

The Finnish, Dutch, Swedish musicians, all the "eurotrash nations" and a bunch of journalist (among many others). Miskin 16:14, 30 May 2006 (UTC)

I guess they got the point. You don't say 'ugly poeple with no proper professional make up artist' if you want to insult Finland. Pictureuploader 21:51, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
Yeah well, that was by far the softest of what she said. Language such as "Fucking ugly old bitch", constant "fuck you" and "fucking this and that" to random people can by no means be justified as the result of "acting". It just shows no intelligence. Maybe she needs to watch abit of Ali G to find out how real comedy is made. For the time being she's simply a troll Miskin 00:27, 31 May 2006 (UTC)

Non NPOV used

The Controversies are written as her simply acting. This cant be verified unless Silvia Nott actually says it was all a role (which I dont believe she has done).

Uhh, that's like going up to Jake Gyllenhaal and addressing him by the name of his character in The Day After Tomorrow and asking if that was really real or not. Silvia Night is NOT a real person -- she's a character from an Icelandic TV show.. Daniel 00:24, 28 May 2006 (UTC)

That being said, a NPOV would be to consider Sylvia Night as a person and not a charachter and to make out her actions as real until it can be proved or until she admits it was all an act.

An anon occasionally comes and deletes the link to the Greek unofficial site, and usually comments with 'ante apo dw mwrh patsavoura' (or variations) which means in Greek 'go away, with this slut', logically for her tantrum in Greece. Can someone see up to this and restore the vandalisms and protect this page from him? Pictureuploader 16:06, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

In this section, it is stated that she was supposedly offending Greece and its people. I can get Greece, but she did offend the people; she called them names, and it doesn't matter if the insult wasn't about their ethnicity, as it is still an insult.--Orthologist 22:32, 15 February 2007 (UTC)

Use of last name

"This entry is about an Icelander... she should not be addressed as "Erlendsdóttir")"

it's a patronym. Read the article on Icelandic naming conventions. It's not considered informal at all to refer to Icelanders by their first names, the patronym is merely a mean of distinguishing this Eva from all the other Eva's out there. This convention is already respected on other biographies of Icelanders on Wikipedia.
