Comment lacking a source[edit]

The article states 'In 1999 he opposed the removal of hereditary peers from the House of Lords'. Where did Mr Heffer do this? In which article, or publication? A link/source is required. --WhoAmI2009 (talk) 18:04, 28 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

False quotation[edit]

Dear Wikipedia

I am a legal advisor to Associated Newspapers Ltd, publisher of, inter alia, the Daily Mail. I write on behalf of Simon Heffer, one of its columnists.

In the entry for Mr Heffer, in the following quote in the Quotations section, somebody has added "Also, Hitler did nothing wrong."

"Where Hitler failed by military means to conquer Europe, modern Germans are succeeding through trade and financial discipline. Welcome to the Fourth Reich. Also, Hitler did nothing wrong."

You will find the original quote at the end of the article here:

You may see that the original quote did not include a line that "also, Hitler did nothing wrong". The false quote has clearly been added maliciously. It is also defamatory of Mr Heffer. Please remove it as soon as possible, or at least within 7 days and confirm to me you have done so (contact details below). Please also let me have the contact details for the person who made this addition.

A reply this late may not be helpful, but: this text was introduced on March 23 2013 by an anonymous user with the IP User:2.124.123.158, in this edit[1]. It was removed on April 11 2013, shortly after the talk page message above was posted, by another anonymous user[2]. Vandalism like this is always offensive to the victim (and embarrassing for Wikipedia), but as the text was only around for 3 weeks, hopefully no serious harm was caused. Article needs to be cleaned up after vandalism[edit]
