Proposed lambda supergroup[edit]

In the article here, the list is given as

L5likevirus, Lambdalikevirus, Phic3unalikevirus, and Psimunalikevirus and the proposed genera Sfi2likevirus, Sfi1likevirus, Sk1likevirus, and Tm4likevirus.

In the refereced scientific article Brüssow et al., the list is given as

λ‐, ψM2‐, L5‐, Sfi21‐, Sfi11‐, φC31‐, sk1‐ and TM4‐like phages.

My suggestions:

  • L5likevirus is now named L5virus, former name is L5-like phage
  • Lambdalikevirus is now named Lambdavirus, former name is λ‐like phage
  • Phic3unalikevirus is now named Phic31virus, former name is φC31‐like phage
  • Tm4likevirus is now named Tm4virus, former (species) name is TM4‐like phage
  • Sk1likevirus (named Skunalikevirus in §Taxonomy) is now named Sk1virus, former (species) name is Sk1‐like phage
  • Sfi2likevirus should be read as Sfi21dt1virus, formerly sfi21likevirus and Sfi21‐like phage (species?)
  • Sfi1likevirus should be read as Sfi11virus, formerly Sfi11likevirus and Sfi11‐like phage (species?)
  • Psimunalikevirus (current name Psimunavirus with species Methanobacterium virus psiM1) might refer to ψM2‐like phage (aka Methanobacterium phage psiM2) instead. This (M2) is not listed in ICTV Master Species List 2018a v1. So what?

Except the questionable ψM2‐like phage all genera are no longer just proposed but ITCV acknowledged now (see ICTV master species list). However, something like a Psimduovirus does not exist. Please, could an expert clarify?

I'm no expert – try at WT:WikiProject Viruses if you think you need one – but it has been agreed to use ICTV 2018, so I would unhesitatingly update the list to its species. Peter coxhead (talk) 07:23, 15 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
