Confusion and move[edit]

This biography is substantially that of the Sir John Eliot whose biography can be found in the new ODNB here [1] (subscription or UK library card needed). So I've respelt his name, moved the article, and sourced the one quote with a correct spelling. The current DNB entry ends

"Sir John Eliot must be distinguished from John Elliot MD (1747–1787), with whom he has frequently been confused; the latter's publications have often been attributed to Sir John Eliot, who, as far as it is known, did not publish anything."

So I've removed the section on his writings, amusing though it was.Ruskinmonkey (talk) 13:10, 8 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Here is a current link to what can be seen outside the wall. I'm assuming that (1733x6?–1786) reflects conflicting sources citing birth in either 1733 or 1736.
Adding to the confusion, his wife Elliott [Eliot; née Dalrymple], Grace [nicknamed Dally the Tall] (1754?–1823) published her books under the name Elliott. – wbm1058 (talk) 15:56, 11 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Link to Duncan is wrong[edit]

Hello, the page talks about a "Sir William Duncan" who was physician of the King in 1762. The link drives to William Henry Duncan (27 January 1805 – 23 May 1863). I delete the link. Hop ! Kikuyu3 (talk) 21:00, 29 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
