Rewrite and Wiki-ise[edit]

This article is way out of line with those for other UK villages. In large part, it resembles the booklet-like product of many UK local village history societies, not a Wikipedia article. The existence of a mention of the topic in some publication somewhere out there does not automatically qualify it for inclusion here.

If other authors—and I see one of them has a user name including the word "Skellingthorpe"—believe that a significant local-history page (or set of pages) needs to be available somewhere on the Internet (which is fine) then the way to do it is to set up a separate, dedicated website about the village and its history and put the information there. Then this encyclopaedia article might well pick a few of its items to reference.

I intend to pull it into line with the usual style of Wikipedia village articles, which means significantly reducing it to just the higher-quality information which WP articles should have. This will be an improvement; indeed, promotion to "good article" status would be a laudable aim.
