Man Whore ( Heterosexual Men )[edit]

Hi I wanted to add the concept of slut-shaming for men , how it's a popular term nowadays for men who are unfaithful and deceitful towards monogamous relationships. Or an F-boy ( fuckboy) for modern media towards men who are mainly deceitful. I would also like to talk to about the social prejudice how it's so normalised to slut shame women call them "whores" due to the historical links. As from then till now, the majority of sex workers are women. I also would like to mention the point of how this term is popular in modern media, because of gender equity rights and the comparison of the term "man whore" as humour in contrast to the derogatory terms slut and whore towards women. I would also like to add the societal concept how it evolved for standards to be equal for both men and women in link to comparison of modern times and a time where a husband having more than one wife is extremely normalised. I will also link the history of societal expectations of women being loyal to their husbands, while on the other hand, a husband having affairs were less discriminated. To summarise, I would like highlight the social inequity of how the term man whore is for humour and taken lightly in comparison to women's issues of being slut-shamed and discriminated . "...more than one wife is extremely normalised" where and by who? Not in the west at least, where the slut-shaming concept has been defined.

Linking an article of some historical examples where women in committed relationships cheated and experienced repercussions, to contrast against examples where men did the same, but experienced lesser repercussions would be selective and be giving the impression as if your views & feelings are what's experienced and accepted by (any) majority. 90.250.178.127 (talk) 16:12, 22 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

How do these sentences relate to slut shaming or each other?[edit]

Hi folks, it seems to me that this article is missing some 'transition statements' or was rearranged unfavourably. At least I find it hard to understand how these sentences are connected to each other or the subject:

However, Kennair et al. (2023) found no signs on a sexual double standard in short-term or long-term mating contexts, nor in choosing a friend, ... Shouldn't "However" imply a some contradiction to the statement before? WHich part of the previous paragraph should this contrast?

The social movement falls into the category of feminism. Which social movement? This raises controversy... What part of the previous sentence raises controversy?

associated with the double standard.... One paragraph claims there is, one paragraph claims there is no double standard but they both don't say which behaviours they are referring to. For the first one, the abstract says "sexual double standards when choosing a mate based on their sexual history". For the second one, I haven't found the source.

Literary characters who were killed or died by suicide as a result of their sexual choices include.... Maybe someone can add some words on how this list relates to slut shaming.

second wave feminism contributed significantly to the definition and act of slut-shaming. The paragraph just describes some aspects of the sexual revolution, but it doesn't explain the two mentioned contributions.

In 2014, The Pew Research Center reported the most common targets of harassment on the Internet are often young women. ... This and the next paragraph mention many forms of harassment but not how they relate to slut shaming.

Maybe I missunderstand the title "Media", but I expected to read about how the subject is represented in media. First, second and fifth paragraph of this section don't seem to fit in.

I'll not cover the remaining chapters hoping that you understand what I mean. It seems like some sentences were added without connecting them with the remaining text.
