Merged watch phone into smartwatch

I propose that watch phone be merged into smartwatch. I think that the content in the watch phone article can easily be explained in the context of smartwatch, and the watch phone article is of a reasonable size in which the merging of smartwatch will not cause any problems as far as article size or undue weight is concerned.   • Oppose - A smartwatch is NOT a watch phone. You cannot attach the name "phone" to a device that does not give you the ability to make phone calls. A watch phone is a phone that is shaped like a watch. A phone by definition: ..is a telecommunications device that permits two or more users to conduct a conversation when they are not in the same vicinity of each other.. A user does not have the ability to make calls with his smartwatch to another user to conduct a conversation. Only a watch phone has this ability. Therefore the line that says "A smartwatch or smart watch, alternatively known as a watch phone" is wrong and should be deleted. Or it could be changed to: "..some smart watches are also called watch phones because users can make phone calls with them without the need of additional external devices ..". Most of the smartphones in the Smartwatch#List_of_smart_watches_in_production are NOT watch phones because users cannot make calls with those devices unless they pair them with a cellphone device. The only watch phones on that list are the LG GD910, Omate TrueSmart and the Hyundai MB 910, Fashion S9110, Z1 Android Watch-Phone that mysteriously ended up on the Smartwatch#See_also list. Dick Tracy[edit]

Dick Tracy's 2-way wrist radio eventually became a 2-way wrist television. It was replaced with a 2-way wrist computer. There were different models of the wrist computer. iPod Nano + wristband[edit]

List cleanup[edit]

The list of smartwatches in production is getting a bit messy. Anyone have any suggestions on how to clean it up? I'd considered converting it to a table with more information such as release date, manufacturer, etc., though with how lengthy the list is getting, it may be beneficial to move said table to a separate page. Sony SmartWatch 2 with or without GPS?[edit]

In the section Smartwatch Hardware comparison Sony's SmartWacht 2 is not marked to have GPS but in the section Smart watch comparison it does. So does it have GPS or not? Omate TrueSmart[edit]

Shouldn't the Omate TrueSmart be mentioned? It was the first stand alone smartwatch with built in phone and all the smartphone stuff like Android (running apps natively), gps, bluetooth, microsd card reader, camera. It was a kickstarter campaign and then briefly available on Omate's website. In the end it failed to live up to the expectations in terms of software and customer service. Smart bands[edit]

Smart band is currently a redirect to activity tracker but is looking as if it's a new type of tech that can't be considered a smart watch or a mere activity tracker. The Montblanc e-Strap, Kairos T-band, and Modillian smart strap appear to be the first and given watch owners' desire to have smart functionality without giving up their existing watches, I suspect there will be more. This could qualify as a section in the article and in time a separate article.

Feature comparison table[edit]

If you arrange the table by resolution, it puts the apple watch first because of the way it is laid out, the samsung is actually higher res. Someone with better skills than me could perhaps fix this. 82.43.99.224 (talk) 13:01, 21 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Adding other well known Operating Systems[edit]

The Operating Systems section could be completed with well known OSes (allowing third party apps) used on current smartwatches : Garmin Connect IQ, Fitbit OS, stock Android (Amazfit and low-end watches), which are much more used than Asteroid/Sailfish/Ubuntu already listed. Pebble OS could be also added for history and as a bit related to Fitbit OS.

flexible screens[edit]

Nubia alpha is ( possibly) the first smartwatch with flexible screen. it is the world's first wearable phone with a flexible display according to [3] but not all come with phone call function so it remains in the domain of the smartwatch. it’s also one of the first devices to have a flexible screen, which wraps around the wrist according to [4]

Seiko[edit]
