Snam's page update. Opinion requested[edit]

I would like to update the Snam page with the following information (highlighted in bold) and references about the company. Any advice would be more than welcome.

Snam S.p.A. (BIT: SRG) is an Italian natural gas infrastructure company, operating through four fully owned subsidiaries (Snam Rete Gas, GNL Italia, Stogit and Italgas), active respectively in transport and dispatching, regasification, storage and distribution of natural gas. As of 31 December 2012, it had a market capitalization of €11.9 billion. Snam was a subsidiary of Italian energy company Eni until 2012 and today it is an independent company whose largest shareholder is Cassa Depositi e Prestiti S.p.A, a holding company controlled by the Italian state. The utility mainly operates in Italy and is one of Europe’s leading regulated gas utilities. Its main peers, in the regulated gas and electricity sectors in Italy and in Europe, are:

  • Terna (Italy): the main grid owner, responsible for high voltage electricity transmission and dispatching nationwide
  • Enagas (Spain): Technical Manager of the Spanish gas System and the main carrier of natural gas
  • REE - Red Eléctrica de España (Spain): manages the transmission grid and acts as sole transmission agent; it is also the System Operator
  • National Grid (UK): operates in the regulated businesses of transmission and distribution of electricity and gas mainly in the UK and northeastern US

I have updated a few facts from this, but the overall tone seems a bit promotional. Let me see what I can do with this.... Mdann52 (talk) 12:43, 2 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Mdann52 for the edits.
I'd also appreciate your opinion about the following phrases:
  • "operating through four fully owned subsidiaries ..."
I proposed this part to specify how the company concretely operates (currently unclear).
  • “The utility mainly operates in Italy ...” (maybe skipping “and is one of Europe’s leading regulated gas utilities”)
I proposed this part to identify its main market
  • The list of the peers
I proposed that to make Snam's market position easier to understand
Thank you in advance

Lead section update[edit]

Hi everyone, I would like to update the lead section by rewriting the following sentence:

The utility mainly operates in Italy and is one of Europe’s leading regulated gas utilities.

as follows:

The utility is one of Europe's main regulated gas companies - leading Italy in gas transport, storage and distribution, while ranking third in regasification.

Any advice would be more than welcome.

Services[edit]

Hello Wikipedians!

The information about services is not updated. As of the 23rd of August 2018 three elements are listed: Natural gas transmission, storage and distribution. Actually Snam operates in transmission, storage and regasification, as correctly reported in the 'subsidiaries' paragraph. Since November 2016, when Italgas was demerged, Snam does not operate anymore in distribution.

Here are some relevant sources:

  1. Italgas demerger: http://www.snam.it/en/Investor_Relations/italgas_demerger/
  2. services: http://www.snam.it/en/about-us/company-structure/

old data update and operating information[edit]

Hello Wikipedians!

I'd like to update Revenue, Operating income, Net income and Number of employees that refer to 2019 and to specify that Terna, Enagás, Red Eléctrica de España and National Grid are peers/competitors (adding the company's market share).

Maybe it would be usefull adding a box with some operating data such us network lenght, number of compressor stations, storage sites.

Any advice would be more than welcome.
