Just American?

I've seen them in the UK occasionally, but I suspect they were introduced through seeing them on American television imports (I certainly first heard of them through The Simpsons). --Safalra 11:57, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

I'm 44, live in the UK and made them as a kid. I don't see why they have to be an American introduction.

I am younger than you, though not much, a thirty something, and I live and grew up in the UK and I have never heard of snow angels, until today. I saw plenty kids making these things in the local park and did them myself but never thought I was or they were trying to make angels, more like pretending to fly on snow. Just been watching sky news, about some snow angel record attempt and the British presenter asked an American guest on the show, what on earth a snow angel was? Maybe, I am just stupid for not having heard of them, but at least I am not alone in Britain. Invention

Snow Angels were invented by Anna Thomas in 1904 when she fell onto the ground, on her back. Because she was quite clumsy, she was unable to get up after her fall, and squirmed around for a minute on the ground. After she eventually got up, she realized that her misfortune had created an angelic figure in the snow.

They are also available in Ireland which this instruction page from RTÉ confirms. They are a very common occurrence when it snows. It may be useful for describing snow angel methods for anyone who wants to expand the article.
