removing POV tag with no active discussion per Template:POV[edit]

I've removed an old neutrality tag from this page that appears to have no active discussion per the instructions at Template:POV:

This template is not meant to be a permanent resident on any article. Remove this template whenever:
  1. There is consensus on the talkpage or the NPOV Noticeboard that the issue has been resolved
  2. It is not clear what the neutrality issue is, and no satisfactory explanation has been given
  3. In the absence of any discussion, or if the discussion has become dormant.

Since there's no evidence of ongoing discussion, I'm removing the tag for now. If discussion is continuing and I've failed to see it, however, please feel free to restore the template and continue to address the issues. Thanks to everybody working on this one! -- Khazar2 (talk) 04:51, 27 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed merger with Caste System of Sri Lanka[edit]

I propose that we get rid of the article talking about the caste system in Sri Lanka simply because the modern island no longer has a caste system - it's strange to devote an entire article about a caste system that doesn't exist. Instead, it would be better to merge it and to discuss how the caste system has evolved into a modern society. Hindianu (talk) 18:50, 12 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Hindianu: I agree. Both articles are basically very similar in topic, but an article on Social Class covers everything while one on caste does not. With a merger we can write a much better article.--Blackknight12 (talk) 11:45, 14 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I do not agree. Social class and caste system is not the same. Social class is mostly based on economy, whereas the caste system is based on kinship, endagomy etc. I request taking this first at WT:INB or at WT:SRI LANKA before making any huge edits. I agree with moving the article. My personal reasoning is that the caste system does not openly exist on the island and therefore it has morphed into something else that is poorly described in academia - I would state that the island still has class related topics to discuss but the caste system does not exist.
