Etymology[edit]

It currently says on the article page that the term SOFAR is an acronym for Sound Fixing And Ranging -- but does the similarity to the phrase "so far" have anything to do with it as well? Because SOFAR tells you how far something is from various points (and thus the position of the SOFAR bomb implosion). 95.89.148.210 (talk) 13:58, 22 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
