Copyvio[edit]

It seems pretty clear to me that from the very first revision of this article that it was copied and pasted from SCC's website. Because of this, the article can't simply be modified so that it's not, since the revisions are still there; it has to be redone from scratch, in own words.

http://www.solano.edu/campus_info/index.html: Established in 1945 as Vallejo Junior College, Solano was part of the Vallejo Unified School District until 1967 when the College became a countywide institution. The 192-acre campus, centrally located just off Interstate 80, was completed in 1971 and opened with 5,000 students.

Again, looks pretty clear to be copyright infringement.

Also, wasn't I specific enough just by including the URL of the original page? --Geopgeop 04:16, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's not copyvio. It's only one sentence, where most of the article is original. But it includes a source so we know where we got that claim from. --wL<speak·check> 20:14, 18 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think I must have originally used the SCC website as a source, and it seemed like very cut-and-dried information that was hard to reword, so I left that one sentence "as is." I agree it wasn't a good idea to do that, but I was hoping that other knowledgeable individuals would expand the article eventually. I'm really gratified to see that that has finally happened, so thanks for that. I don't live in California so your expertise is really good to have. The article was first inspired by Casey Sheehan, as it was reported in the media that he had attended this college (before he was in the news, there was no WP article about this college).
