Untitled[edit]

Could someone elucidate the jargon? I'm unfamiliar with the terms 'firelines' (should that be firebreaks?), 'incident response', 'helitack', 'smokejumpers', and the particular use of 'hotshots' (derogatory or professional name?). Some of it can be deduced from context, but only just. -87.211.95.62 (talk) 10:28, 31 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fire line: a barrier cut or dug along the edge of a fire to deny it fuel

Helitack: helicopter crew working on fire bringing supplies and resources

Smoke Jumper: A firefighter who parachutes onto fires

Hotshots is their professional name, not a nick-name or derogatory term — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jaredhower (talkcontribs) 22:51, 28 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
